Default My Experience of the new Swift

    Hi there,
I'm sure that there are a lot of mixed views about domestic cars here but my experience with the new swift has been amazing. we bought it a few weeks ago and i have been enjoying every second of it.
it has some excellent features and has a comfort level which can definitely be compared to the local saloon cars. its acceleration is amazing and thank god it has ABS too, which works perfectly well.
i'm attaching some pix of the best features of the Swift which i love. enjoy

first of all, the odometer. it has a drivers seat belt warning light which blinks continuously until the driver puts his seatbelt on.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018603

JVC cd/cassette player. it has an auxillary input which is very useful for ipod connectivity
My Experience of the new Swift -1018604

    electric doors and mirrors.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018605

    rear ashtray can come out.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018606
My Experience of the new Swift -1018607

rear seats have headrests and seat belts.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018608

and they can be folded too
My Experience of the new Swift -1018609

and by removing the rear shelf, there is a lot of space. as the rear shelf is not attached to anything(like in the cultus) it can easily be removed
My Experience of the new Swift -1018610
My Experience of the new Swift -1018611

theres no keyhole for the boot nor is there any lever which the driver can pull to open it. instead the boot handle has a button which can be pressed to open it. and it can be opened only when the doors r unlocked, even if the car is on
My Experience of the new Swift -1018612
My Experience of the new Swift -1018613

there are 4 speakers, all of them are in the doors. the sound quality is very good. And they have a good bass.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018614

rear legroom is ample and 4 people can sit very comfortably
My Experience of the new Swift -1018615

the clock, which has a weird "fake" immobilizer light which blinks when the car is off. the manual says that its function is to deter robbers. I say its pointless.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018616
My Experience of the new Swift -1018617
My Experience of the new Swift -1018618

the a/c of this car is awesome, and the vents r pretty cool too. they can be closed and rotated in all directions
My Experience of the new Swift -1018619

it has fog lights too. which makes the front of the car look less "blank"
My Experience of the new Swift -1018620
My Experience of the new Swift -1018621

    the radio antenna.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018622

    the back light.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018623

keyless entry. u have to press the unlock button twice to unlock all doors, otherwise only the drivers door is unlocked. the suzuki people give 2 such keys and one simple key.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018624

bridgestone tyres and alloys. ABS comes as standard.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018625

and now the things i dont really like about the car

the rear lights will take some getting used to. they are all over the place!
My Experience of the new Swift -1018626

there are scratches near the door handles already. i guess its because of the paint.
My Experience of the new Swift -1018627

overall, the family loves this car. i think that the price tag is justifiable for a 1300cc fully loaded hatch back. i'm glad that we didnt go for an imported car. I wish it had airbags, but then again beggars can be choosy.. atleast it has ABS

Different intake, different gear ratios and final drive ratio, different engine management. Also, liana has to haul more weight. M13 was originaly designed for swift, it is an adaptation for liana, which is not as good as it should be.

Butt still, How come Suzuki Swift can be a great machine if its not fuel efficient..!! A luxury car if back seats are not that spacious...!!! no need of a trunk to rate as one is not on a road trip every time to have his clothes & food filled up..!!

Rest is not important if car is not fuel efficient & comfort level is not high..!!

If u need a hatchback, swift is good, if u need a sedan. Swift does not suit you. How hard is that?

    Default 30 thousand comfortable kms

this car has been in the family for 1 and a half years, still going great... the mileage is around 13kms/l in the city. its acceleration is addictive and i am sure that i can achieve a better mileage if i dont rev it that much.

the color has started to fade from the cd player, gear knob and power windows buttons...

Yes, the colour is fading for me to, but no problem, the ride and comfort compensates it.

FYI: Definite proof that Swift has an immobilizer.

the tyres are a real bother. i have no idea why this is happening. these are factory fitted bridgestone turanzas (185/60R15) and it always seems as if the tyres have less air. i get em checked almost once every week and there is always 3-4 psi less. sometimes there is a puncture but we have never faced such a problem on our other cars (2002 civic and 2005 civic)

the picture is not clear but those who own a swift might understand.

Omar, the tyre pressure is dependant on how you load the car, the optimal tyre presser is mentioned on the driver side door.

I keep my tyres at 33PSI (all four) as I drive with 2~3 adults and one infant, check them every week and its consistent, maybe because the car is just 3 months old?

What PSI do you keep your tyres on?

30psi (all four). car usually has 3 adults. i just remembered that a petrol station tyre check up booth wala ruined one of the tyres by telling my mother that it had ten punctures.. as she thought that its possible (the car went regularly thru the ring road which was not completed and hence had a lot of debris on the road) he fixed the punctures. later we were told that the tyre booth wala at that specific petrol station is a fraud and does it to everyone, those who know about it escape and those who have no idea get atleast 5 punctures and thus get their tyres ruined.

i recently went to a tyre wala ( a good one )who told me that i should get the tyre "patched" rather than get the traditional puncture.

the car will be 2 years old in june and we'll get the tyres changed. this time i'll make sure that no puncture wala ruins them.

but thats just one of the tyres. the rest weren't handled by him. but they too lose pressure quicker than our other cars.

Bro the ideal pressure for four people is 33PSI front and 36(or is it 38)PSI back, check the instructions on the driver side door, you've been putting the tire below the recommended PSI.

Will you believe? the same thing happened to us? a punturewala told my mom that the tyre is puncture and he 'fixed' it. As soon as I heard I took the car got the tyre open again and thoroughly inspected it, thank God it was well.
