***Rebuilding my VW type 182 Thing***

The car is a 1978 1600 VW type 182 (RHD), it was a treat for myself after i recieved some great news today. mashAllah it's a wonderful car and all parts are complete. bought it from here, it was advertised in august 2006 and even back then i wanted it pretty badly,but had my hands full with my 1303 project. All the older members may recall aridsoul wanted this car but the deal never happened, i'm sure he's happy that it went to a VW enthusiast and a friend. It needed to be rescued before it was sold to someone who didn't know its true value.


As with my 1303 this is not to be "Pimped", the emphasis will be on modern engineering and true restoration, i'm not a huge fan of silly alterations

i'll take my time with this restoration too but this time there will not be too many pics as i've really got no car to go see where it is being rebuilt.

have updated the spec list for the engines. Have added a few engines and have included the timing for a few of them too. any info you all have can help improve this lest. as it is, this is now the most comprehensive list available on the internet regarding VW flat engines.

I spotted this while coming to work today and thought i should capture it for your DIY thread to share, though it was not in very good condition.

Nothing is being done on the car till the car s tokens are cleared and it is registered on my name (is an issue because it is LHR registered etc...)

Its still in karachi but in my possession and wont be bringing to Lahore till i get back. Engine is in place and some of the things are with my guy. Will keep you posted

it's costing me 45k to get this thing registered in my name legally. i tried reasoning with the registration guy but the taxes are short on this car and it is registered as an LTV (12 seater) and unfortunately it has never passed that test either so now i'm out of pocket by 45k jnust to get the damn thing on the road!!

luckily th eseller is a ice guy and he'll be offering me a semi-financial solution soon.
