Default ***my new ride (storm)***

Well it's been a long time coming but it's finally here and ready for you all to see. Here is my 2004 (oct) Surf SSR-G (3400 V6 4 cam). I'm waiting for the "M" series to start, hence the temporary "IDF" number. I bought this from Alta, a special thanks to Racer F1 for checking the car for me and to Libra, GTiR & Charterali for their help & support.

Damriol has the rest of the pics (thanks for helping me go get it buddy)

LOL i can imagine how it must have been... Did you get scolded?

I don't see the logic of it happening at very low speed, there is no way the tires could have lost traction unless there was something slippery on the road

@crashD
yeah that's why i mentioned the vigo as well since they are on the same platform and are even more badtameez to drive than the surf.

@TM
as the weather drops and tyres take longer to warm up i guess the levels of grip will decrease, it happens every year but for some reason this time i was caught out.

@rozzzzz
the diesel and petrol are almost exactly the same in terms of performance (don't forget mine is a 3400 V6 not a 2700 I4)

@RB
there are a few patches of road in ISB which are used so much that they are like driving on ice, this is one of them (turning from PSO pump/ thana corner towards ali medical centre).

@rozzzz
thanks for the update on the MarkX,... i guess it's jsut slippery there.

as for performance of these machines,... let's be honest they are trucks not sports cars. all of these things are pretty slow regardless of the engine. any SUV which is fast is usually pretty pathetic offroad (including the RR sport and cayenne turbo). i've not gone over 130ish till now so i can't comment of outright performance of this thing.

don't forget that almost all surfs/prados are just glorified hiluxes

Cant believe how ridiculous prices have become these days. If i am not wrong this car was bought for about 2.4m. Cars in pakistan are an investment. Buy a car for x amount, sell after couple of years for a profit.

as for performance of SUVs, couldnt agree more. Drove a jeep cherokee, 3.7L engine, here in Doha, and it was really slow.

yup, i bought it for 24lacs and nowdays people are asking for 33-35 for a 2.7L SSRX with no options.

infact i got an offer from a friend for 35 for my car and he knew i got it for 24. when i asked him if he was insane he said "what will you get in 35 nowdays?"

i think people need to be more honest and realistic when selling used/old cars. in my eyes my car is still only worth what i paid for it and anyone who thinks it's worth more is insane. it's an automobile, it ages, it wears out and it gets out dated,.. why don't people understand this??? cars are supposed to lose value regardless of what a new one costs. almost every 2004-2005 surf in PK was brought in for a similar price to mine so how the hell can the prices go up??

i know people say that now they cost more to import/can't import, but if that logic applies then a VW beetle should be worth about 5 billion rupees.....

i honestly question the sanity of people in PK sometimes.

@storm

i agree but the fact remains that its a cycle. If you as a seller, sell it for 2.4M, what else can you get in this range? You will have to add a whole lot more just to upgrade to a newer model. We complain about higher prices when we buy a new cars but take full advantage of high prices when we sell our old cars. I think the major impact on prices was caused by rupee depreciation. Anyhow, not that i or u alone can do much about it. The only protest i can do at my level is to say no to buying cars at these prices but that can be continued only to a certain period.

honestly speaking, i know too that i'd be insane to sell it at ANY price as i'll not find a better replacement. honestly i was tempted to upgrade to the 4.0 (2005+) model in black a while back but then i thought that since it costs so much more i'd be a fool. afterall it's still more or less the same thing (96 civic Vs 99 civic)

i see myself driving this truck for a long time as long as i don't go and hit it.... buying ANYTHING except an old busted VW right now is a bad idea in my eyes.

^^ So this is the reason behind the Price Hike . Every one sets price for his vehicle according to current market
