I just got new tyres for my 96 Civic from Tyre Club DHA. I went from Yokohama AVS ES100 15/60/195 to Yokohama Advan DB 15/60/195.
First of all I would like to say that Tyre Club is way more expensive than Neela Gumbad market. Advan DB is selling between Rs.8400 to Rs.8600 in Neela Gumbad but the best price I got from Tyre Club was Rs.9700. So save your 5k and go to Neela Gumbad. You can't go wrong with J. Rashid at Neela Gumbad. It's a reputable shop. Also checked a couple of shops of Jail Road, they are more expensive than Neela Gumbad, but still much cheaper than Tyre Club DHA.
The only reason I went to Tyre Club was that only they seemed to have the size I was looking 15/60/195. No one in Neela Gumbad had this size. Everyone had 16/65/195 which is too large for my car's wheel well. So I was left with no choice but to go to Tyre Club.
They seemed quick and efficient, however before wheel balancing, the installer struck the centre cap on the wheel too hard and it cracked. When they tried to put it back it wouldn't sit tightly in the centre and they had to glue it with elfy.
As they were about to mount the last tyre on the wheel, I noticed that the size was different the first three tyres were 15/60/195, the last one was 15/65/195. Morons didn't even bother to check the size before ripping open the cover. They were just concerned with getting the job done as fast as possible. Fortunately I didn't leave them alone for one second which is why I was able to spot their mistake.
They asked another guy to fetch the right tyre from the warehouse. I waited for a few minutes and then the guy called me inside the shop. I already knew what he was going to tell me. They only had three tyres of 15/60/195. It was due to some mistake in the inventory. I was royally pissed. However they were very polite and apologetic and promised to rectify the situation.
I had two choices 1) Completely dump the new tyres. 2) Get the odd sized tyre installed, which they promised to replace in a few days when the new tyre arrives from Karachi.
Not wanting to completely waste my time, I went ahead with the second option and now my car is driving with a limp until I get the odd tyre replaced.
On the plus side, the tyres they had were really fresh, early 2012.
A second incident that happened while I was at the shop... A guy had come there to get new rims and tires. They installed all four rims and tyres on his car and bid him goodbye. But as the guy tried to leave, his car wouldn't move. Turned out that the rims were touching the brake calipers.
When something like this happens you know you are not dealing with professionals who know what they are doing.
In short, to sum up Tyre Club...
Pros
Nice variety
Friendly customer staff
Fresh tires
Cons
Expensive
Dimwits doing the installation
You have to watch them to make sure they don't mess up
