@Raja420: I have recently enrolled in Rawalpindi Flying Club for CPL and Instrument Rating and waiting for my batch to start. I would like to tell you couple of things. I was actually going to South Africa to start the CPL from Loutzavia couple of months ago but had to drop that plan because of below mentioned reason. One of my relative is a Boeing 747 Pilot in PIA and he was able to provide me some useful information which I would like to share with you.
First, Regardless of where you are and from where you do the CPL you absolutely have to obtain a local license to fly with the national flag carrier. So for example you get a CPL from UK and come to Pakistan you need to give the papers for the license conversion to fly with PIA. I am not sure if you are aware of this thing or not but it is not just one or two papers. You have to give all the papers which a CPL holder needs to pass to obtain a CPL from Civil Aviation Authority.
Secondly, If you do CPL from any European country it is going to be recognized by Joint Aviation Authorities. Other than some Non-European countries ( who offer JAA recognized CPL ) all of them award ICAO recognized license. What I have heard that you can obtain a JAA recognized license and can fly with even flag carriers of countries who award ICAO recognized license. All you have to do is give papers for license conversion and obtain a license to fly with that country. However, this is not the other way around. You cannot convert an ICAO recognized license to JAA recognized one at any cost.
Also I would like to let you know that JAA recognized license is expensive but it is always considered superior over ICAO recognized one.Emirates at the moment is one of the best airline in the world with lucrative salary packages for pilots and first officers. Most of there pilots are from British Airways,Swiss Airways,Turkish Airways,Scandinavian Airlines,Lufthansa and Air Fin who are flag carriers of countries where you get JAA recognized CPL.
So to summarize,If you get a CPL from any flying club in Pakistan you cannot fly in Europe as it is not going to JAA recognized. You will have to do the entire CPL from any country who offer JAA recognized one in order to fly in Europe.
My recommendation would be to contact the Aviation Authority of any European Country and confirm it from them if they would accept an ICAO recognized license for conversion to fly with them or not. Most probably they will say no but still confirm it for your satisfaction. Also if your absolute prime concern is to fly with European carriers than my recommendation would be to contact some of the flying schools in Non-European countries who offer JAA recognized one like schools in Albania,Armenia,Azerbaijan,Turkey,Ukraine etc and see if you can afford there cost.
I was going to South Africa for CPL but dropped out the plan because of License conversion issue only. I was a little hesitant in giving 18 papers for the CPL from SACA and than CAA papers to obtain one to fly in Pakistan as you can fly with South African Carriers only if you are a South African citizen or South African Airways is short of pilots to the level where it starts affecting there aviation industry.
Let me know if you have any questions.
