My father just bought a slightly used Toyota Corolla GLi 2011. The other day we had to apply brakes hard on a normal road and although it felt like ABS was engaged, the car still went into a skid (though it didn't get out of control).
Shouldn't the ABS prevent the car from skidding altogether? We also own a Honda City 2011 and haven't experienced anything like this with that car. Just wanted an opinion from experienced GLi owners as this is our first. Is it normal with GLi? Could it be the wheels (stock EuroStar ones, done around 8k kms)? Should we get the ABS checked? Has anyone else faced similar issues?
Thing to note here is that this was not a one time thing. We tested this multiple times later (in controlled environments) and found the behavior of the car to be consistently similar (slight skidding with a feel that ABS engages).
All help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
