HI PW and Experts
All i want to know is why my Vehicle Diesel engines start giving Blue smoke at high altitudes (2500meters obove) and it again get normal after coming back to lower altitudes. Is it Normal ?? Experts Please comment
strange you see blue smoke, usually NA diesel engines start pushing out black smoke on mountains due to thin air. When oil is burnt in diesel engines it also becomes black smoke as it is used as a fuel in the combustion chamber.
yes i have observed it more than two times also the friend trailing me have told the same thing about the blue smoke ..and the engine is turbo charged with intercooler too.
please Help PW fellows ..
it might be the turbocharger working hard and burning off residual oil in the exhaust pipes.
I also came with the same problem with my Nissan Patrol at higher altitudes when we rev the engine at higher rpm's or if we are travelling more than an hour on steep's slopes than the exhaust smoke get's blue the problem was with my turbo charger it was leaking the oil in the air intake. It run's smoothly if we drive it on a non hilly area but when we start's to climb the hilly area the load on turbo increases and it starts to leak.solved my problem with the rebuilt kit and now it's fine.
Is the thermostat valve in the engine cooling system removed??? Just wondering
But brother i have faced this issue with two different vehicles while one was NA diesel and she also started giving blue smoke over 3000 meters .
Dear there are three types of smokes coming from exhaust.1.black smoke due to more fuel and less air. 2.white smoke due to less fuel and more air.3. Blue smoke which is due to burning of lubricating oil.
