I have a 2005 Corolla Xli Manual. I have some questions regarding Transmission oil and steering fluid.
This year, my car would be 10 years old with 225,000 km on the odometer.
I have gleaned from my elder brother that he hasn't gotten the transmission oil and the steering oil fluid change in the last three years since it has passed into his care. He has only topped up the steering fluid and doesn't even know about the transmission oil. Furthermore, he doesn't believe in putting coolant in the radiator because he believes it is just expensive "shashka".
I am insisting on complete drain and change of fluids but my father and his lil adviser, an acquaintance from his breakfast club(chai hotel), are saying since the oil is "company wala" and therefore of unquestionable quality, they don't need to change it. They just need to top up the fluids once in a while.
My father knows almost nothing about the intricacies of car maintenance (he knows that if he hands over the car to the 3S, it will come out good as new) and has been driving zero meter cars for the past 25 years and for only 5-6 years per car. And his lil adviser has an 80s alto and hasn't owned a car from this century, but he is claiming to possess 25-30 years experience of car maintenance.
Are they right? If not, tell me something that could persuade them to my way of thinking.
Furthermore, tell me which fluid and oil I should put into my car.
