AOA,
it was a pure adventure, unknow place, just picked from google-map.
started the journey at 4am, from Lahore.
reached Gujrat via GTroad.
from Gujrat to azad-kashmir-border, Bhimber-city and before height road was ok(not bad).
from climbing to the top mountain road was Excellent but road was little steep.
the top place is "Jandi Chontra" 2800 ft.
and the highest mountain-top there is 3500 ft. (we climbed and reached the top too).
lanch and tea at local, road-side hotels....
from "Jandi Chontra" the LOC is about 5 km, we went further towords LOC, army-post did not allow us to go at one side, but guided us to go the other way to samahni-valley, we went on that way, upto 2km from LOC. but then we turned back because 1: it was too steep, 2: the road was not present in long patches, 3: the road was getting narrow and narrower, between village homes, 4: and time was also running out.
spent some time in Bhimber city, in search of any local goods or handicraft, none was found. just ate cone-icecream. ... started back journey from Bhimer before sunset.
reached Lahore at 10pm
remember: Lahore = 700ft, Bhimber-city in kashmir = 1100ft, "Jandi Chontra" = 2800ft and mountain top was 3500ft.
conclusion = its not a tourist place, its just a local-Bhimber people get-away and some shrine-visit place, no shops or local stuff, no family picnic place. its one time adventure for men.
climate = people say it rains , no snow at all, earth is sandy, rock is also sandy. it was a sunny day but it was not hot, little cold wind on mountain.
view = Himalaya mountains + wide angle view of Bhimber-city and beyond + Mangla dam lake
good = first time Kashmir visit + pure adventure + new place + new faces + breath taking view from mountain top. great experience for me and son.
bad = mobile battery died on mountain top - fatigue sets in on way back - dangerous night driving.
cost = one petrol tank fill = 2200, GT road toll tax = 180, lunch tea etc. = 300
