I learnt to drive on my 1995 (JDM Import) Honda Civic 1.6L M/T but now I rarely use it. In my opinion, there isn't a better car to learn how to drive on than a Civic. The car is low, the seating position is spot on and you get a feel of the road in a way that is not comparable to any car within the same budget. The steering is soft and the car is very responsive if taken care of properly.
You can get an automatic Civic very easily these days for even less than 1 million. They are, however 2004-2006 models. Its way better than those tiny 660cc toys that are flooding the markets. In my opinion, if you learn to drive on a tiny car, you will never be able to properly drive a midsize car.
That's my 0.02c
