Don't compare it with Hondas as they have high revving VTEC sporty engines - Lancer's engine is more of a hauler than a sheer horsepower one. The 1.3 is powered by the 4G13 which makes around 90 horsepower (which is higher than 1.3 Corollas and the iDSI City) and the 1.6 is powered by the 4G18 which makes around 105 horsepower, which is the lowest in its category. Its also heavier than its comparative engined PKDM counterparts. However, if you buy a 1.6 auto, then you get the CVT transmission and peak torque arrives at about 2800 RPM (compared to around 4500 RPM for the 1.6 manual) so its pretty responsive.
I've kept a 1.3 auto and a 1.6 manual. Both great experiences, but both ended sadly.
