    Default something for bikers

    hi...here are a few tips which i have learned from my crashes...hope other riders will learn a great deal

    1. ALWAYS...and i repeat ALWAYS wear a good helmet...make sure it fits ur head and is not too lose or too tight

    2. Those riders who have disc brakes in their bikes...check the brake oil meter regularly to ensure good braking

    3. when on road plz plz plz dont think you are valentino rossi or casey stoner...they ride on empty tracks ...u ride on roads full of ppl who dont care

    4. while changing lanes signal ur indicater in the direction you are changing...dont care what others think...and try making it a habit

    5. bikes are highly unstable ...ride under the speed limit and dont try to brake too hard as front or rare tyre can slide causing an accident

    well thats it from my side...other riders plz share ur thoughts with us as it can save lives

    Mirrors wud help as well, cuz with a helmet, bikers have to crane their neck to check traffic. That split second can mean a difference between life and death.

    @Mikz

    yes thats another major thing...how could i forget that ...mirrors are very very important as they can tell the rider whats coming behind from both sides and the rider can react to it

    here in pakistan ppl remove the side mirrors from there bikes.

    i think they should be fined for this.

    one more thing i remembered from a crash of my frend...when a bike slides at high speed...immidiately leave the bike and let urself roll on the road...it will lessen the amount of injuries to yourself...also try to cover ur neck with both of ur hands...just like in the BRACE POSITION...i know that in a high speed accident these things dont come into mind easily...but its better to learn them by heart...coz they might save ur life

    @foosa

    I'd like to add a couple of points too if you'd like:

    1. Wear proper clothing. No point in going out riding showing your biceps. It's not funny if you have a fall. And put on sturdy riding boots when you ride, no joggers, slippers or sandals.

    2. Check your bike thoroughly before each ride. Someone I know had a crash because his rear brake linkage disconnected while riding. The bike had been to the mechanic just a couple of days before. Brakes, Tires, Chain, Guards, etc.

    3. Always keep ample fuel in your tank. It's not a comfortable situation when you want to cross an intersection and your bike sputters on you, with traffic coming from your right.

    4. Keep a sharp eye out for road conditions. try to avoid shaded parts of the road, as they may be damp or icy (depends on season), thus causing you to slip. Also, watch out for sand and gravel on the road, especially in the bends.

    5. When negotiating a turn, look into the turn, where you want to go, not in front of your tire. This will promote smoother cornering, and will prepare you for any road condition or hazard ahead.

    6. Keep your lights in running order. Always keep your headlight on, even during daytime. It's not fashion. Bikes are smaller, keeping headlights on makes your bike more visible to the oncoming traffic. It used to be the law, now people laugh when they see a bike running around with lights on during the day.

    That's all that I can think of now,

    Take care and ride safe!

    @foosa and saadisb

    It's our responsibility to enjoy operating motor vehicles - bikes and cars - in the safest and most responsible manner. I just wanted to add somethings that I feel are important and that I picked up over the years to this informative thread. After all, if somebody else can make use of these pieces of advice, our day is made :d

    Cheers! (y)
