Two Pakistan army men killed in Islamabad firing

ISLAMABAD: At least two army soldiers have embraced martyred and one sustained bullet-inflicted wounds as two unknown armed miscreants, riding motorcycle, opened fire on an army jeep, which was on its way in G-11 Sector in Islamabad, rescue sources said early on Thursday morning.

Eyewitnesses said unknown miscreants, aged between 22 to 25 years, succeeded to flee after carrying out deadly ambush on an army jeep.

According to SHO police Inayat, one among dead army men was Brigadier Moin, meanwhile, police have launched search operation in order to locate fleeing militants.

Police said their parties have cordoned off the entire area but no official version over the incident has come to surface as yet.

All the police checkposts, located nearby, have been put on high alert, meanwhile, the investigation into the incident has commenced, sources said.

It is pertinent to mention that G-11 Sector is the residential area of top army officials in Islamabad while pillion riding is also already banned in federal capital.

I was in Islamabad for the last three days and my lahore numbered vehicle was stopped and checked like at least 15 times. But this is not my point.

My point is that while rushing to the embassy to make it in time, i was stopped, disrespectfully questioned and my inspected for ages, there were jeeps and cars with dip or UN number plates which were let go with a Salute. But this is not my point as well.

I found the security measures in islamabad pretty tight. It must be very difficult for an ordinary man to transport a pistol from one place to the other, let alone numerous kgs of explosives into the securest places of Isd without any assistance.

Moreover, for the first time, i noticed people in dip and UN land cruisers which you don't usually imagine sitting in such vehicles. People who didn't look like they were diplomats or UN officials.

My point is that though I understand the diplomatic protocol, with current situation in Pakistan no one should be spared of inspection. If five years from now we find out that these suicide bombers and terrorists were transported to their destination using UN or DIPLOMATIC vehicles, I wouldn't be suprised at all.

i carry a pistol with me at all times nowdays, i've been stopped many times and they have never seen it. makes you wonder how safe we really are....

you raise an excellent point, and it is one which has been raised amongst the residents of OSB many times before. afterall it isn't hard to get a white cruiser and stick a blue UN logo on it.... same way it isn't hard to find someone to stamp out a metal "CD" plate for you to hide in your sunvisor (what most embassy officials do now)

Because the haphazard sequence of the bombings don't suggest that they are owned by some Islamist millitants. They are not as 'targetted' towards a specific sector as they should've been incase of any ideological movement. The Islamic Millitants may be used in it - they're un-employed after the RUS-Afghan war. Moreover you can find a million people in Pakistan who think that after the rape of their daughter by a wadera, or the killing of their sons by local nazim, or the death of their mother in the hands of incompetent medical staff, their lives have become pointless. THey're already willing to kill themselves - only this time, they get a dozen million for blowing themselves up in public.

I used to snap at people when they blamed everything on America. But this time, I really believe that it is being conducted on their end to fail Pakistan as a state, and strengthen their excuse of entering Pakistan with full force. I was surprised when a couple of years ago, I saw some Iraqis stoning Saddams statue and bringin it down. Americans are preparing similar people out of us, who would be so sick of the mulki condition and the rulers and the army, that they'd get out and start burning parliaments and GHQs. A handful of people stoned saddams statue in Iraq, but it was shown all over the world just to justify the notion that ''we are here to save Iraqis from the wicked ruler who they hated so much''.

I've already heard some groups of people saying ''Yaar, chalti to america ki hi hai idher, why shouldn't we officially make Pakistan an American colony...atleast visa to araam se mil jaya karay ga''

Thats true that they are getting training from cross border and getting aid from raw, cia, israel and russia!!! But the fact remains, WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO GET AID AND IMPLEMENT IT? the answer is simple, they are all Pakistanis. This unfortunate reality should be accepted by all of us. We need to stop them implementing all this!!!
