Default Aisam beats Federer in Basel Open doubles

KARACHI: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Swiss doubles partner James Cerritani brushed aside tennis great and world number one, Roger Federer and his Swiss compatriot Marco Chiudinelli in straight sets at the Basel Open in the Swiss city on Tuesday. Qureshi was at his serve-and-volleying best in the round-of-32 match as he and Swiss Cerritani cruised to victory against the world number one Federer and Chidudinelli in two sets, 6-4, 6-3 to book their place in the quarter-finals of the 2.6 million-dollar ATP tournament. Playing in the world number one’s hometown, the Pakistani player and his partner were in control of the match from the first game and although Federer and his old friend Chiudinelli produced moments of brilliance, the grit and powerful serve-and-volley game of Qureshi and Cerritani proved too much in the end. The Pak-Swiss pair will now play tournament first seeds Daniel Nestor (Canada) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) in the round of 16.

Is it really ''Aisam beats Federer''?

I mean doubles are team effort. There's his contribution, no doubt, but '''Aisam beats Federer'' are pretty loudspoken words.

Its like if Manchester United beats Real Madrid, and people start claiming ''Roooney beats Kaka''

pit Federer against Aisam in a singles match and the former would take the feathers out of the latter and beat the crap out of him in a way no body else has ever done that before...

Aisam might be the only talented player from pakistan, but comparing him with an all time Tennis Great and a sporting Legend, its quite ludicrous :s

be reasonable guys..

Uhh, comparing Aisam whatever to Federer aka greatest of all time is like comparing a buggati veyron with a fx. and you know what federer is NOT a doubles player..

whoevea is sayin aisam is an average player.....go get a life..and realize that we have AVERAGE facilities in pakistan...and no sponsor at all for tennis...he is the best after umer rasheed...and we shud put faith in our players adn encourage them rather then.....

as far as contribution is concerned...even if an 11 member team wins..becasue of a guy...they say the whole team wins..so these were just 2 guys man....so give them credit..!! 50% effort..is a lot..!!

so whd if federer is nt a doubles player...if thts the case he shud ve opt out...losing is losing....big cheer fr aisam...and i hope n wish that if he cant may be sumday other guys in our country will rise to the occassion...!!!

In case you didn't read completely then let me quote it for you that Federer and his partner
LOST
to Aisam and his partner. So no one is comparing A with F here. Comparison has already been done by the result.

Legends are Legends and even if they lose a match or so it doesn't mean that now they are any less capable. The picture should be seen from this angle that an upcoming talented player has won a match against a Legend. We should appreciate that only. Losing this match wouldn't put a dent on Federer's career but it will be a shining moment in Aisam's career.

Keep rocking, Aisam. (Y)(Y)(Y)

I always admire Aisam Ul Haq. He is one of the best in the world, if further groomed. he might score a spot in top 10s

If you compare Federer with anyone you're probably retarded or doesn't know anything about the game.
