assalam o alaikumFriendship is the cooperative and supportive relationship between two or more people. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, affection, and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis. Friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as the exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. Yet for some, the practical execution of friendship is little more than the trust that someone will not harm them.

Value that is foundm in friendships is often the result of a friend demonstrating the following on a consistent basis:
the tendency to desire what is best for the other
sympathy and empathy
honesty, perhaps in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth, especially in terms of pointing out the perceived faults of one's counterpart
mutual understanding


but are the friends of today are really "FRIENDS"


well just wanted to share my personal experience and wanted some advice on it too.


i have many "friends" but out of all 99 % are not the friends that the above two passages describe. all of them were classmates and we have been together for 5 years almost.with time i noticed a distance grew between us. weeks passed by without any calls or even message.even on eid none met me but the all got together. i used to take the initiative and call them but they never did. many times i tried to find something wrong in me bugging them but when i talked to them they said that nothing was wrong. my uncle had past away and none of my friends came to me to though they knew what had happened and though i was always with them in their happiness and sorrows. then at college we had elections and guess what no friend of my showed up to support me except for two whom i regard as friends. a group that was so close is now acting so strange and iv noticed that many times they get together without me. recently all of them gathered at a friends brother's walima but they never even told me. well im not alone but there are many other guys that has left the group due to some reason or the other.the other thing i noticed is the vulgarity the smoking and all the indecent activities that they have started eg looking at girls(negatively) and talking bad things about them. most of them have adapted the policy of tit for tat. i dont know what has happened to these so called friends and i fell a little scared that would happen in my time of need. pls suggest me some friends tips and ways to recognize true friends. and share your experiences too.
