The point here is not to praise english but the fact that she tries to speak in english while she is not working on it. From the scenario I think the guest is not familiar with Urdu and Meera is asked to interview him, ofcourse in English. She said during the video that yeh mujhse nahin hoga.
One more thing, language is a mean of communication and English being widely accepted and adopted all over the world is the most popular to go for. Take and example, suppose you're a punjabi pathan and you only know pashto while you visit interior sindh where people speak sindhi, you don't know sindhi and they don't know pashto, now the only option (or the easier) will be to both speak in Urdu and that what happens.

I hope you guys realize that the video posted here was NOT actually aired. They are getting ready for the show and making sure everything is in order. This really is not that big of a deal. They do such routines before all shows just to make sure that the actual show, whether live or taped, goes well and without any unscheduled retakes.

I believe there should be NO shame in not knowing english if its not your first language..! I don't know why are the people of sub-continent so much besotted with this english fever :s


English is NOT a prerequisite to being educated and does NOT reflect the level of education one has had (although in meera's case it might well be)..


Take an example of most of the DEVELOPED european countries (I assume, barring a counted few where english is in fact the official national language), their education system is NOT in english language whatsoever.. Even their Ph.Ds and engineers don't bother speaking in english (when interviewed or something), rather they prefer their own native language..


Take an example of the DEVELOPED Asian countries; Japan, South Korea, China (its a developing country but still doing much better than most developed countries).. their education systems are NOT in english whatsoever.. hell, they dont even incorporate english as a compulsory subject in their schools/colleges as far as i'm aware of...


And YET all of these countries are doing MUCH MUCH better than any Non-English Speaking country where not knowing english is considered a TABOO..:s duh..I mean wtf???


Our country's education system is in shambles, part due to the fact that kids try to MEMORIZE their lessons what have been taught to them in english rather than UNDERSTAND them.. Had they been taught in their native language, they would have been doing much better today...


My sermon isn't aimed at supporting that idiot meera who's so desperately trying to memorize a few lines in english.. in fact my message to her would be ; you dimwitted pinhead, if you dont know english, wouldn't it be great if you could stick to your own language?? :s what my point is that, kindly get over this english mania..
