laptop or ipad?

my mom will be buying one for her own use from UK,btw will it be cheap there or here in PAK?
basic requirements are browsing,email,videos,images
budget around 50-60k
i was thinking laptop would be fine but my uncle was convincing that ipad 3 will be better off
well so what do you guys suggest?
a simple i3 laptop or ipad 3?
if laptop then which one
ipad 3 is for around 400 pound there

Most of the popular video websites are HTML5 and have versions for iPad and other mobile devices. HTML5 is the future.

And since this is for the OP's mother, I would assume she would want something that is very user friendly.

Laptop is easier to use and has more uses...

for example, chaudhary and amma want to talk on skype. Chaudhary makes a call. Amma attends, now she cant put it anywhere and has to hold it in awkward position...If it were laptop, she could put it anywhere and chat...
More over, if in future she wants to play COD4 with her children, ipad is useless...

Other than that, is she computer literate or not? And do you plan on keeping her computer illiterate (for some reasons)? If so, buy ipad..

no use man i had the same option as urs month back but decided for i pad.soo in my opinion laptop is better as we can do alot of stuff in it like usb attachement cds and all

yes....buy this buy that...just for one simple thing, you need to buy upgrades...

so thats why , laptop better....Its simple to use.

For family use Desktop is the best, easy to upgrade and an average life is 5-8 years compared to laptop's 1-2 years.

Get a laptop IOS sucks! I bought an Iphone 4 yesterday and it sucks! Android FTW.

Either get a laptop or a Galaxy Tab . Ipad doesn't even support flash.

Android Tablet is Best for Amma G.

NO IPAD in any case.

And incase you can't get an Android tablet than go for Laptop.

Your priority should be Tablet with Android.

Andriod tablets requiring google account are bit better then any ( I's ) where as The BEST are notebook PCs plenty of expansion ( in terms of memory & hard disk ) and lasts for over 3 years without fail (unless ill treated)

if ur mother is a casual user and only hv those requirements than buy the ipad right away ... it will last much longer than laptop on single charge and fulfill the multimedia requirements easily ... laptop can get complicated for her because of multiple windows softwares, spam and viruses on internet ....

iPad is perfect and quite user friendly for browsing, emails and video chat.
in beginning it will take some time to get used to, later it will be fine.

I'm using ipad2 since 4-5 months and now I rarely open my laptop.
