laptop or ipad?

my mom will be buying one for her own use from UK,btw will it be cheap there or here in PAK?
basic requirements are browsing,email,videos,images
budget around 50-60k
i was thinking laptop would be fine but my uncle was convincing that ipad 3 will be better off
well so what do you guys suggest?
a simple i3 laptop or ipad 3?
if laptop then which one
ipad 3 is for around 400 pound there

There was a time when 3310 shared same league what you're referring. Now mobile is a basic necessity.
When you start using iPad or any similar gadget only then you realize that it's quite convenient thing. There is nothing like 'bharam marne wali baat'

not show off but Anroid tablet is far better than any other. I know laptop is better but as for as concern amma, Tablet is real thing.
Coz of load shedding tablets are only things which are useful and helpful. Coz their backup is 7-10 hours. And on other side you can't find any laptop in your budget which can last for 3-4 hours(when its fully charged).

Just watch tutorials on internet. Android tablets are easy to use and very open as well.

tab sure looks easy to use
i guess there was nothing much superior about tab over ipad,i have used android cell n i dont find anything that attractive in android esp the customizations,widget etc things

Buy her a pink laptop. All the tablets do have there limitations at some point and you cannot use them on daily basis. Physical keyboard is the best for smooth operation. And if tablet is required then go for the one with simcard option only wifi will not be of any use in the long run.

now a days Tablets are more practical than laptops.
And specially for women as they are easy to handle and they can skype easily even while cooking :-)

there is similar stuff from almost all other brands as well...like dell, asus, toshiba etc..although im not sure about toshiba...

I saw this one particular laptop which had two touch screens in a laptop styled layout. One screen in place of keyboard and the other where it should be. The keyboard screen works as keyboard+mouse...Was very clever idea...
I don't remember the model/brand...

They have made some very clever gadgets in past 4/5 years....

Flip screen laptops are good but wouldn't fit in his budget, as earlier i bought Lenovo base model for 625AUD, if I had an option to buy one for my mother, I wud definitely go for tablet WiFi +3G (apple or any other) just to serve the purpose instead headache for laptop booting, different software updates bla bla.
