Any synthetic oil can easily do more than 10,000 km, even 15,000km. The real question can your engine or filter last so long ?
Here is my advise, get the best oil you can afford, and keep your OIC at 10,000km. Keep checking the oil color and viscosity every 2000km after 5,000km. So 5,000km, then 7000km and finally 9000km. You will learn something about the oil life as well as your engine life. The oil should not degrade (or change color) too much after the first 2-3000 km. Initially when you pour a synthetic oil, specially Mobil 1 New Life 5w40 , it may change color very quickly as it contains cleaning detergents, so your engine will be getting cleaned as well as lubricated. After 1st change, it should settle down and change color very gradually.
I have read and heard oil filters breaking apart sometimes, and you should be wary of it, if you used a cheaper oil filter.
I have been using LM 10w40 Semi Synthetic oil for more than 70,000km, and last time I moved to Mobil 1 New Life 0w40 Fully Synthetic oil and I love the Mobil 1, as the engine feels alive and full of power at all times.
