Being in karachi, I will choose 10w30. I fail to understand y the 5w30 has so low operating temperature resistance
if i had this manual i would choose none of these:P ill go with 5W-40, the engine does not know when a temperautre whether its 15W-40 or 5W-40 all it knows that oil at that time is SAE 40. but if as you say i get a brand new ca rthna i would even use 5W-30. if 10W-30 can meet the hight heat range i fail to see why 5W-30 would not.
this manual is from a corolla?
Toyota corolla ki book!!!
Exactly!!! Is it aome sort of misprint??? Well I wud keep away from 5w30
Dont keep us in surprise then. its a toyota manual for sure. Probably a 2nzfe gli
this graph doesnt seem legit, plz double check
i dont think its a corolla manual on second thought as corolla manual doesnt mention oil pressure
could be honda city manual, its definitely for a local car
the graph is the same for corolla as well though
the comments that follow are going to be fun:p
all ill say is like i said before ill just use 5W-40 plus it shows that you cannot rely on JDM owner manuals and then use 0W-20 viscosity all year round like nothing is going to happen because the beloved jdm manual says so. its for a yaris so its probably given for hot climates maybe a yaris for dubai or eastern europe/african markets.
this particular manual says its for toyota yaris 1kr-fe, and oil do play a role in keeping a engine cool, one can search Xulfiqar posts as well where he talks about the delta of rise of temperature.it is not possible for e.g. for 0W-20 oil at high speeds in hot climate such as 40C to keep the engine well lubricated and cool as the delta rise in temperature is too much for it to handle.so you cant follow word to word whats written in a jdm manual for say, you'll have to consider your circumstances accordingly but this doesnt mean that one starts using 20W-50 oil. thats why all the various viscosities are given in the manual and not one or two.
i dont get one thing in toyota manuals. The 5w30 is to be used if the ambient temperature of 10 degrees only, whereas the 10w30 can work above 40 degrees!!!!!!!!
is it safe to use 5w20 or 5w30 in 1kr fe in the hot climate of Karachi? We do cross 40 degree in summers
5w-30 will work fine, its not just about climate but also about how the engine is being driven, oil gets beaten up more at high rpms or high speeds, its even written on more expensive cars manual like the hyundai couple i had that caution 0W-20 is not suitable for conituinous hi speed running even though it was mentioned on the temp chart that it can be used all year round in that car. since you are not going on the motorway i see no problem using 5W-30 in "karachi" weather, but i think it would be better if the car is a bit older or unverified milage to use 5W-40
hassaan cant u read the chart???? Use 10w30 or more viscous oil. 5w30 is not suitable for temperatures more than 10. Says so the chart!!!!!!
this is not unusual
see this chart from the manual of a volkswagen jetta 2009
