Yes i did it
Yesterday i went back 4m office at 4pm & after taking lunch went to dismantling everything
This was my 1st experience with fiddling with timing belt so i was very apprehensive of destroying my engine if anything goes wrong
Anyways i started off at 5pm &
removed valve cover
removed upper timing belt cover
removed spark plugs
Had to remove left engine foundation for easy access
Now i placed oil dip stick in the cyl no1 & checked for correctness of crank TDC mark
Crank TDC mark was correct
So slipped off t-belt from CAM gear as there was slack in t-belt
Adjusted CAM & CRANK on TDC & tried to get the t-belt back on but failed
At this point i got frustrated as it was already 7pm & it was cold outside
Decided to call my mechanic on phone but he was busy but he commented " sir g timing belt kese khol li aap ne" i replied " Yar ye ek lambi story hai, phir kabhie sunaon ga"
Took a break of half an hr, took tea & cursed myself for taking that panga.
At 8pm the thought struck me that i didnt loosened the tensioner bolt. so got back to work & loosened it with a socket wrench through the hole in lower t-belt cover
the t-belt became loose & VIOLA i was able to get the belt on cam again.
Gav 2 turns to the crank & rechecked TDC but it was misaligned again
repeated everything & checked but no gain
The i removed t-belt from CAM & Rotated the CRANK a few degree ahead of the pointer & put on the T-belt again.
now it came dead centered at TDC after giving 2 turns
Atlast i tightened the tensioner bolt & placed everything back again.
After reciting BISMILLAH cranked the engine & it came to life at 1st try.
Warmed it up to operating temperature the SHorted out the SCS connector & adjusted the timing from distributor
Reset the ECU by pulling out the backup fuse & left the engine on idle for 2 mins.
Result:
Alhamdolillah the Engine is much quite, smooth & light now. it even feels more powerful.
