Greetings Xulfiqar,
I totally agree with that. I love driving diesels. But really need your help as the local mechanics can drive you crazy.
I have just moved to Karachi and bought a 2003 Diesel Prado which has a 3000 cc turbo diesel engine. So far I have done the following on it.
1. Changed engine oil and oil filter
2. Fuel Filter
3. Air filter
4. Cleaned the fuel tank
5. Changed brake pads
7. New Battery
8. Had the injectors and turbo serviced.
Before this change when I would start her up in the morning there was a cloud of whitish smoke on every cold start. Now it starts without the white smoke. But there seems some black smoke in the morning and also during acceleration which I am told is normal even for common rail engines.
My vehicle has done 74,000 km. I am not sure if the meter has been tampered with but I suspect it has. Not to risk it I am going to have the timing belt and rollers changed. Every time I go to Toyota i get the feeling i am being ripped off.
The problem is that it gives 4-5 km to a liter of diesel. The way I have checked this is to fill her to the brim and take a reading after driving 100 km. I did this a few times and took an average which came to 22 liters per 100 km.
Need your help to:
1. Identify an honest person/workshop who can do this work for me in Karachi. I live in Defense Phase 6.
2. And also suggest what all should i have checked. Do I need re-calibration, so far I have not touched the pump.
You suggestions would be much appreciated.
Regards
KMB
Besides this I also own a Fiat UNO and a jeep which has a 3C engine.
