Default Daihatsu Mira 2007 fuel consumption

    Hello,

I have recently purchased Daihatsu Mira 2007 automatic. Its a marvelous and fun car to drive. But I am getting 11.5 to 11.75 Km/litre in Islamabad with air conditioner switched on most of the time. I have seen 18 to 27 km/litre reported on the internet, and also that this is car has the most efficient engine in the world. I just wanted to check if other people are getting a similar fuel consumption from this car. Furthermore, today Toyota I9 refused to provide service (tuning) for the car saying they are not 'equipped' to support imported cars (including Corolla Axiom). This is just crap and nothing mite than strong arm tactics to discourage sale of imported cars. The question I have is whether anyone knows a good garage/service shop of routine service of Mira and Axio in Islamabad. Thanks.

One has to be very careful with accelerator on these imported cars. You will have to change your driving habits if you want more mileage. If i drive it like i used to drive my previous manual car, i will hardly get 12-13km/L. I have changed my driving habits keeping in view my expenses on petrol. My last two petrol fills gave me 16.7 mk/L. My current fill is so far 18km/L. All mileages are with AC.

My daily commute is from DHA2 to Marriot and back. Total of 70km.

Hello friends... just an update on my thread. I have tried to take Hassan's advice on board. Just trying to go slow on the acceleration and keeping the rpm below 3000 has improved the fuel consumption to ~14 km/l.

It depends on the road..e.g. Incline, downhill etc, and loading, e.g. A.C and passengers, but usually around 80 km/h.

This is It,,,, All is Scam to get 17+ kilometeres per liters..
I drive Alto 660 Auto, get around 12 - 12.5 with Ac NOT full time on.. You can say in 300Kms distance AC is on for around 200KMs..
In winters when A/C is total Off, it gave me average of 15.7kms/l

I am 100% agreed with you, b coz automatic transmission requires a soft acceleration and driver has to release accelator after moved up the speed of the car every time.
Then these sort of cars give good fuel average, right now my Mira 2008 is giving me 16 to 18 KM per liter in Karachi city.
    I love this car.

Get your car checked its plugs . get a new air filter , get throttle body cleaned and last but not least check its catalytic converter checked if its choked get it clened using carb cleaner or remove it (normally catalytic convertor gets choked due to low quality fuel and ) if possible use 60 to 40 ratio of petrol and high octane . its should give u around 19-20 kmpl as i have a toyota belta 1.0 and it gives me around 18 kmpl so u should get even better

I've seen people complain about the mileage that their 660cc kie cars are giving them. What they fail to bring into account is the fact that these cars are already used in the vicinity of 100k+ km and need maintenance before they can give you good mileage. Changing the plugs alone would help improve the mileage. These cars also have their catalytic converters choked which greatly contributes to the low mileage. Getting it removed would help alot. And as mentioned above, driving habits are crucial to get good mileage. We've got a 2009 mira manual AWD and it gives around 18km/l and that too without the catalytic converter removed.

i do have hyundai santro and never take my car for tuning work as lots of people suppose to say that EFI didn't need a tunning. all it need to put a best quality Fuel System Cleaner (Sonax: made in germany) to keep your car tune, smooth and keep the entire fuel system clean.

its not very great mileage as i have also daihatsu move i will suggest all guys to go for imported cars although it giving me about 14 km/l but i think we should use fuel treatment solvents in the petrol tanks to condition fuel and to clean combustion chamber also timing is computerized control with solenoids we should check car timing during every tuning keep ur wheels cool

I get 14-16 km/l in Santro. With a light foot driving and remaining between 80-100 km/hr range. I guess it is alot better then these 660 cc cars in terms of Fuel average and power. Not in comfort, safety though.
