What if you wake up one morning and it seems as if the engine has gone mad or probably you are drunk and aren't putting the car in gear correctly? Because trust me it does happen with that stuff.
Clutches aren't THAT expensive, its more or less a job of 15k Rs. If one doesn't have 15k for his car, then don't toast it in the first place and use it with care.
My city's clutch lasted for 215k kms and 8 years precisely.
I have the same corolla 2008 and its clutches gave up at 160k kms, but the issue wasn't the car not moving, it produced a strange jerk session, like gud gud gud gudrrrr when the car was moved from a stop. I still doubt the clutches needed replacement but I got it done anyways as the mileage was a bit too much.
