Today went to Honda genuine part sellers and bought a new thermostat valve built for Honda with its tag for around Rs. 700, I remember the same one I bought for around 1200 the previous year from Honda Motors. One further inquiry he said that this is made in Thailand, everyone uses the same and this is the only one available in the entire market.
Temperature ratings was 78C although I insisted that I needed the one with 82C but the guy said that on Honda it comes with 78C and no one has 82 for the model. I don’t know how true his claim was.
After installation and drive to my home and around town for half an hour, temperature remained at constant 78C and rose to maximum 84C then quickly came back to 78 again.
Rubber seal inside the old one apparently looked damaged but question is how good 78C coolant temperature for most of the driving time.
What does this tells me. Am I good or normal operating temperature should be higher, rest of the cooling system has been very well maintained?
