the CVT fluid is devoid of any friction modifiers for wet clutches which are required in later toyota boxes which are specced for Toyota T-IV (JWS3309) or Toyota WS (low viscosity HFM ATF)
Your box may seem like its working - but quite soon the torque converter lockup clutch will start to shudder and produce noise like a deep humming rumble - thats called chatter. Driving like that will end the life at half interval - you then can rebuild the trans or sell the car as "jenyan" as everyone else in Pakistan does.
You wont be the first to do this - many people around the world have used generic DX ATF in place of JWS3309 and have faced a rebuild bill later - For info sake - price out a NEW torque converter for your car - its price is amusing.
In transmissions that dont have partial lockup torque converter function the CVT fluid works but results in strong shift as the clutches bite immediately rather than smoothly. The dexron rated fluids provide a smoother shift - they were blended to do so.
You might as well use plain hydraulic oil in the gearbox - it will work - (you might think its awesome too) but instead of the transmission working a life of 320,000 kms it might be well under 140,000 when a rebuild is required.
I rebuilt several dozen of such gearboxes in Pakistan where owners used the piece of crap warco branded type A ATF in their automatics specced for dexron 2 or higher. The results were flaked clutches, worn drums, flaked brake bands, jiggly bearings and general havoc.
