Hi, Thanks for informing about Tahir Autos. I went there with my Aqua S that was giving 16-17km/l despite all service and changes of oil/air filters etc. My route is from Shabbirabad Tipu Sultan to Karachi University and thats 26 km two way and normal traffic. Tahir is a nice and humble guy. He used the OBD Hitachi scanner to check for sensor errors, found one in battery and fixed it. Then on my approval he reset the Hybrid system. Tahir charged Rs 1000. He says 500 for scanning and 500 for the re-set. The mileage changed to 19-20. Thank you Shahbaz Shah and Tahir.
Tahir was recommending tuning as well which he calls different from Toyota Central and explained it means more than cleaning plugs and silencer throttle. I was not sure if my Aqua needed that much. I am happy with the 19-20 mileage.
My observation is that Tahir knows what he is doing. But its obvious that he uses the Hitachi OBD Scanner as a layman as he could not explain most of the stuff. I wonder if there are mechanics who really understand scanners. I have been told there are two mechanics near the Liberty sabzi market. I will take my another Aqua and see how they work out.
Two questions to you Shahbaz: 1. You posted somewhere here about using NGK spark plug different from the Aqua recommended Denso Iridium and changing the gap to 1.5mm. Obviously increasing the gap will increase the size of the spark, I wonder what are the side effects?
2. You say you use tyre pressure of 34psi. Wont it decrease the contact area, tyre compression and elasticity?.
