Default Road trip from Islamabad to China.

Well guys,my fellow pakwheeler PUNK and I have planned for a trip from islamabad to china after Choti EID inshALLAH via road.

Well the actual plan is to travel by a jeep from islamabad to china border. We are gonna get dropped of at the border.Rest we dont know what's on the other side of the border and how to move around after crossing the border.

so here are our questions which hopefully will be answered by some of the expert members who have travelled a lot via road.

1)shortest route from islamabad to china border,

2)once we reach the border and cross it.what are the mode of transport available there?

3)once across the border shortest route to any major city of china.

4)visa application processing time

5)an estimate idea of the total price ?(consider us as bagpackers ,no luxuries included).

6)estimated total time duration required for the trip.

PS:Any member who is interested in joining us is more than welcome!

thank you.!

Timings:
Islamabad to Gilgit : 16 to 22 hours depending on conditions and driving style

Gilgit to Hunza: 4 to 6 hours ( dont remember the exact time)

Hunza to Khunjerab : 4 to 6 hours

@docebbz
Well u can skip the Hunza stay!!! but this will be way too hectic for you guys.plus risky, I will certainly never travel to khunjerab at night ..
Remember AT KHUNJERAB PASS, THE TEMPERATURE IS VERY LOW AND THE AIR CONTAINS VERY LESS AMMOUNT OF OXYGEN!!! IF BOTH OF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF BREATHING PROBLEM e.g ASMA, SYNOSITUS etc... ITS NOT AT ALL ADVICE ABLE TO GO THERE!!!! your head may feel very heavy and driving might become dificult!!!

Been though this plan a dozen times ! it never materializes, because there is no point going to western part of china. its basically small towns and villages. the major developed cities are on the eastern side. you can take the karakoram highway to get to china, but what then !

pls refer to the map below. how many cities do you c on the eastern part especially with pakistan !

@doc when u reach sust border then u will get bus which will pass through glaciers nd thats the tough tyme , driver clearly says we are passing on glacier nd every thing could happen , the weather there is too cold all year , dont forget to wear double jackets etc , after travelling 4 hour u will reach one city from there u can get train to beijing but thats way ways long journey ,

we are resident in guangzhou
