main kuch din pehlay quetta se aya hon
bas aap ye karo ke day timings mein travel karo night timings nahi.aap sukur ke rout se travel karo,sukur per night stay karo n dan striaght to quetta.din hi din mein quetta ponch jao ge.

brothers halat purey pakistan ke kharab hai sirf quetta ke nahi.

There are two ways to reach quetta,

1. Through Hub area enter to Baluchistan and through the highway reach to quetta. (Approx 700 km)

It will be better not to travel on this route because I think there is only 350 - 400 km road and rest is all under cnstuction since years. Uf you will try this route you will ruin your car.

2. Reach to Sukkar, then enter baluchistan through Jakobabad and reach to quetta. (Approx 900 km)

And for your trip to quetta if you have Corolla then it will be very good, because this car is very common in Baluchistan and in case you face any problem atleast you can find spare parts and mechanics.

MY ADVISE:

Go from the Sukkar route, Till sukkar you will find good highway and after that somewhere bumpy and somewhere average highway. But be careful, your car should be very well maintained and take adequate quantity of water with you and every necessary thing for any emergency condition, because there are very dangerous turns and slopes so be very very careful, and car should be driven by a very professional driver in Baluchistan. Specially 100-125 km after sibbi are very dangerous. So be very well prepared.

It will be good to stay a night in Sukkar and next day continue your journey to quetta.

And in the last People are very very helpful and caring of baluchistan so be very polite with them, if you will give them respect they will respect you more than you expect, and waer local national dress(Shalwar Qameez), if you will waer PAnt Shirt they will consider that you are an ALIEN.

@smuazali and yasinzai: Many thanks for your feedback and advise. I think it helps to always get a realistic view of things from people who are in touch with the facts on the ground.

As it turns out while all of Pakistan can be viewed as a dangerous place, the biggest danger in this country has always been and still is being out on the road. As Greg Mortenson states in the great book three cups of tea, if I ever die in Pakistan it will in likelihood be in a road accident rather than some terrorist activity. Lets hope we can make things safer on the road in the days to come, but wearing seat belts is always a good start and running on good tires always helpful.

By the way, still no invitation from Quetta I was hoping for some warm Baluchi hospitality but.... :

@smuaazali

quetta koi village nahi hai ke wahan mechanics and spare parts nahi honge.lol.sirf corolla nahi chalti wahan,wahan woh cars chalti hai jo apke pakistan ke kisi city mein nahi hai.
and wahan pants walon alien nahi kehtey
aap jaise logo ki waja se quetta jaise cities badnaam hain,koi wahan jane se darta hai.

@poster

aap log aram se jao kuch b dangerious nahi hai,woh b pakistan ke baqi cities ki terha big city hai.jo danger apko apne city mein hai wahi danger wahan b hoga bcoz pura pakistan aik hai.
when u people will be going do inform me,main wahin milon go apko,mera apna home hai wahan.
apka rehna,khana pina,ghoomna,security sab mujh per.

aap log zaroor jao and proof karo woh b pakistan ka hisa hai.bas iss se ziada main kuch nahi kehna chahon ga.

@yasinzai: Many thanks for the invitation. Me and some friends are planning a trip to Quetta this winter from Islamabad. Will keep you posted. My impression of Quetta despite recent news-flow has always been that its a culturally vibrant place with a large number of zinda-dil upright people. Hope to rediscover some of that in the days to come.
