Default By road; Quetta-Zhob-DI Khan-Rawalpindi and back

I have very few photographs but I can give some facts and details for those planning to travel on this route.

    Quetta - Zhob
    Distance : 330km approx
    Time : minimum 4.5 hrs
Main Cities in between : Kuchlak, Muslim Bagh, Qila Saifullah
Road Condition :Excellent road till Qilla Saifullah approx 180 kms from Quetta (speed can easily be maint as on motorway) . Thereafter till Zhob either the road is under construction (gravel - approx 40 kms in the form of patches) or a single road where u have to get down to give way. This portion of road is worst in over all journey. Average Speed : 50-60km/h unless u have an off-roader
Security Condition: Fair, No incidents reported lately, travelling recommended in day light hours only.

    Zhob - DI Khan
    Distance : 225km approx
    Time : minimum 4.5 hrs
Main Cities in between : None
Road Condition : Single road where u have to get down to give way. First and last 50km is better road in between it is all hilly area where gaining much speed is not possible. Few patches of dirt road
    Average Speed : 50-60km/h
Security Condition: Highly unsafe at night, serious incidents happen every now and then. During daylight it is safe. I was instructed to carry a weapon and wear shalwar kameez which I did not do. On my way back i travelled this area on Sunday, thinking it too be a day with some traffic; instead i came across three different areas where locals were gathering up in large numbers along the road side (automatic weapons are a common sight here). Not sure what was the occasion but all passing cars would stop out of some respect and then were given permission by the tribals to move on.

    DI Khan to RawalPindi

Here i choose two different routes but later learnt that both were not ideal. So i'll briefly give a discription of recommended route

    Recommended Route
    DI Khan-Chashma-Mianwali-Talagang-Balkasar(MW interchange)-Rawalpindi
    Distance : 400km approx
    Travelling time : 5 hrs
Road Condition : Good (speeds upto 100km/h and ave of 80km/h)
Security Condition : Good overall - DI Khan and Chashma road has lower traffic and may be cleared in daylight

    Overall Trip Statistics
Distance from home to home : 950km (one way)
    Driving time : 16 hrs
Petrol Consumed (vitz 1000cc) : worth Rs 4000/- whereas, on return journey it was more as petrol prices increased and car average was also less due to difference in hight
Mobile Signal : Not availble in DI khan and from there on till Quetta except in a few major cities
Rest Areas/repair facilities : None between Quetta and DI khan except Zhob
CNG : Not Available between Quetta and DI Khan
I'll post a few photographs that I have later

    @usman; thanks
I bought a basic Nikon last december and immediately it developed some fault. I took one whole year to get another camera from Nikonwith some cash adjustment. On my way to rawalpindi I had no camera and on the way back my photographers (my children) were asleep most of the time and took shots of what they felt better so not much in pics. I've editted a few a posting them here.

I've previously travelled twice on the route you mentioned but unfortunately the recent floods have damaged major portion of road in between Dera Murad Jamali and Sibbi and the temporary road established has frequent traffic jams for hours at a stretch. Not to mention any political unstability in balochistan has its strong effects in these areas. As was the case in the days of Moharram when I left Quetta for Rawalpindi
