Default A Trip to Soon Sakesar Valley, The Beautiful and somewhat Ignored one !

    aoa dear fellows,

On 2nd-July-2011, We (some office fellows) went on a day trip to this marvelous valley, which is not that far but so ignored that most of us have not even heard the names of beautiful lakes it is having, where as we do know the names of lakes situated at far off places.

We (Ihsan, Faisal, Ali, Tahir, Farooq, Murtaza, Yasir, Imtiaz, Zafar) booked a Toyota Grand Cabin and off we went.

    Following was our path:

1- Lahore to Bhera (via motorway)
    2- Bhera exit to Khushaab
3- Khushaab to Noushera (Soon valley's small city)
    4- Nowshehra to Uchli Lake
    5- Back to Noushera
    6- Then to Khabeki Lake
    7- To Khabeki the town
    8- To Kanhatti Bagh (Garden)
9- Back to Khabeki and to wards Killar Kahar
    10- Then on Motorway

On points, 6, 7 and 9, the road was quite bad , was under constructio though (as per 2nd-July-2011).

We started at 6:am and after taking two leisurely stays of about 90 min in total, reach the valley around noon,

    The places we visited were:

    1- Dep Sharif chashma/pond
    2- Uchali Lake
    3- Khabeki Lake
    4- Kanhatti garden

Now Before I further details, here is some into to this valley (wiki)

The 'Soon Valley' (Urdu: [‎[‎وادئ سون)]] or Soon Sakesar is one of the famous valleys of Pakistan situated in the central Punjab province. The Valley is situated in the north west of Khushab. Naushera is the main town of the Valley. The Valley starts from Padhrar village and end to Sakesar that is the highest peak of Salt Range. The length of Soon Valley is 35 miles (56 km) and average width is 9 miles (14 km). The area of Soon Valley is 300-square-mile (780 km2). Although not as coold as the valleys up north, Soon valley consists of beautiful lakes, waterfalls, jungles, natural pools and ponds. Soon valley is also blessed with ancient civilization , natural resources, and fertile farms.

Yes this a beautiful valley even in July we enjoyed there (it was not cold though).

Regaridng Dep Sharif if you are going from Noushera to Uchali lake then after covering half the distance a road comes on the left, which has a board mentioning "Dep Sharif", you take this road about half km, then you park your vehicle there (no parking person there though , then a small track of about 0.75 km takes you to this beautiful place. There is natual cascading water, white rocks and blueish green water, a track further up takes you to a valley source of the water stream which causes this pond, over all a very nice setting

We found no security issue there, during our day trip. And life and routine seems normal. The people are friendly, but you should respect their privacy and culture.

If you are thinking of traveling at night, or tracking or off-roading then as i have not done so hence can not comment. In that case may be it is better to have some local person with you

Then as we started geting closer to Salt range hills the terrain started to change. Please note this road (Khushab to Noushera) winds through salt range and offers much beautiful views then the M2 section.

    @faisal_here

I appreciate your effort to sharing pics for the thirsty eyes.

I also appriciate your effort for such an informative threads. It can be called a travel guide.

If you can upload some maps (google earth etc) it will really helpful.

Also mention distances and time taken. road condition. availablity of public transport etc.

It is Sakeser. Sakeser is five thousand feet above sea level and receives snow every other cold winter. Now a days it a radar base off Pakistan Air Force.

Rana bhai, thanks a lot for the words.
About public transport I am not too sure, but I think they would be available on main roads/points only. But as some attactions are aside of the main roads hence some other arrangement should be there.

About maps, let's see if the following can be helpful:
A Trip to Soon Sakesar Valley The Beautiful and somewhat Ignored one ! -264976

I have marked out route with a red pencil line in the map above.

While going we went from Bhera to khushab and then to Noushera, while we came back from Kallar Kihar interchange, the reason being ;the road through which we went i.e. from Khushab to Noushera though is a beautiful one, but is not double, is mountainous with many turns and possible do not have lights hence for night travel i will not recommend that.

On the other side while going from Khabeki towards Kallar Kihar a portion of the road (about 8-10 km) is under constrcution now a days hence is very bad, hopefully after some time it will be OK

Also below is the zoom in map of the places in valley which we visited, see red circles and the comments, please note there are many other attractions but we were short of time and knowledge both
