Assalam u Alaikum,
All thanks to Imran Arif for introducing such a beautiful place to pakwheels members through his following thread...
Sajikot Waterfalls - A Hidden Beauty
We also visited this place on 6th April 2013....
Islamabad-Havelian (Roughly 100 KM) (2-2.5 Hour)
Four routes are possible.
- The preferred one is via Motorway (If you are not coming from Pind/Islamabad) and exit on the Burhan Interchange. Then move a few KM's back towards Hassanabdal and turn on KKH. Excellent road condition but you have to travel a few KM's more.
- Other option is to take the G.T Road and reach Taxila and turn towards Hattar-Haripur road. Good road condition although there are many speed breakers on this road.
- A third option is to turn towards the Khanpur-Haripur road before reaching Taxila. The shortest path but road condition is not so good.
- Fourth option is to take G.T Road and turn from Hassanabdal. This is the preferred route for Islamabad/Rawalpindi people as after the construction of the underpass at Taxila and good road condition it has become the better option.
The time taken will be between 2 - 2.5 hours depending upon the time of day you are traveling and the the rush conditions as well as your driving style. I have seen people reaching Abbotabad with in 2 hours but caution should be taken on this road as the public transport on this road (Specially Hiaces) do very rash driving.
Havelian - Sajjikot (Roughly 25 KM) (45-60 min.)
You will have to pass through Havelian city. Just before the bridge on a big Nala you will take a right turn (If you are coming from Haripur side). Then you should ask about the Sajjikot road. It is a very famous road and village and everybody in Havelian knows about it and will guide you to the right path.
For the first few kilometers in Havelian and in the suburbs the road is bad. But once you are out of Havelian the road is in excelent condition. The only bad thing about this road is the huge speedbreakers (More sort of Car Breakers) in almost every town that we pass on the road.
Also note that during this 25KM patch we will ascend and there are a few hair pin bends with steep ascend just like Pir Sohawa. So if you are comfortable to take your vehicle to Pir Sohawa there will be no problem at all for you to take it to Sajjikot.
It is roughly 1-1.5KM ahead of Sajjikot bazaar on the same road. When you cross Sajjikot you cross a Nala. The waterfall is visible from the road or at least audible from the road.
Also note that it is a 3 step waterfall. The first two are small steps and the last one and the most famous one is huge. But the upper two steps are also beautiful. If you want to visit them then you should descend just before the main waterfall.
A video of the three steps.... Please view it in 720p HD for best results.....
