Just wanted to let everyone know that I travelled twice on car with family from Islamabad to Quetta via DI Khan Route and no problem happened.
The route is safe during day time with good traffic going through.
The following are the details and directions for people who might be interested in travelling:
Islamabad to Balakasar: Motorway: <Maintain Speed>
Bakasar exit towards Talagang: Road is carpeted and ok.<Maintain Speed>
Talagang to Mianwali: (Till Jahaz Chowk) Road is carpeted and OK.<Maintain Speed>
- Take left towards Multan road from Jahaz Chowk Mianwali<Maintain Speed on carpeted section>
Jahaz Chowk Mianwali to Chashma link Road: half portion of Road is under construction and rest is ok. But its a small patch of say 5 to 10 km which is under construction.
- Take Right towards Chasma from Multan Muzaffargarh road and keep going and then you take left towards Chashma where the road is going straight too. Dont go straight there.
Chashma Link road turn to Chashma: Road is pretty ok with some places where it is broken and have bumps. <better not to take much speed here>.
- Take right toward DI Khan and while going on this road take another left after crossing the mountains towards D I Khan ( The place is with shops and one road is going straight, dont go straight)
Chashma to DI Khan: Road is almost completed with few patches where construction work is undergoing. That is probably 10 to 20km at max rest is very good road <Maintain Speed on carpeted section>
Take left toward D I Khan city when you hit the T at Bunno Road
Enter D I Khan City and keep going on this road, pass fruit martket and enter Daraban Road
Keep going straight till you reach Daraban: road is carpeted <Maintain Speed>
- From Daraban Take right towards Darzinda/Mughal Kot
Darzina to Mughal Kot: Road is somewhat OK but be wary of speed brakers, bumps and broken bridge areas: Do not maintain much high speed. Some areas are bad where road is not present but thats not that big. better not to travel in that section during rain time. Muddy area
Mughal Kot to Zhob: Road is bad and stay cautious. Worst part of road section. Single, Dangrous and rough.
Zhob to Qutta: New carpeted road. Maintain Speed. Stay Cautious at rounds and turns they are dangrous. Also pass trucks after giving horn because many drivers sleep on this good road.
Total Drive time: 12 hours
Total journey time: 14 hours
I hope this will help everyone who wants to go through this route in future. Most of the road is good, so enjoy your journey.
