On Aashura holidays I planned a visit to Kallar Kahar, Katas and Neelawahan with family. Kallar Kahar is on motorway and had a chance to visit it many times but never stayed there overnight. The visit to Katas was after about two decades while Neelawahan was on the visit list for the first time.
Started from Lahore on monday morning and the rubber met the motorway at about 11. It was a nice day with drizzle but slowed me down, anyway I was not in a hurry and enjoyed the drive. Reached Kallar Kahar leisurely at about 2:30 pm. Searched for a place for night stay. There is a hotel by Punjab tourism development corporation overlooking lake. I decided to stay there. The hotel is ill kept and service is just bearable, but one does not have much choice there.
After lunch we left for Katas raj temples. It is about 30-40 minutes drive from Kallar Kahar on Choa Saiden Shah road. The road is wide for a country road and is in good shape. Had no problem reaching there. Spent about two hours visiting the place. I was pleasantly surprised to see that place is in a much better shape than when I last saw it. It is now managed by archaeological deptt. Took some pictures and left place about half hour after sunset.
