Dear Pakwheelers,
The summer vocations are comming up and number of Pakwheelers would be traveling from Karachi to up country. Everybody is fully aware with the fact that the highways of Sindh are under construction on a fast track basis. So, I have decided to write/share my latest experience (End of April'15), which will be helpful for those who are planning to travel and cross Sindh safely. The security situation is much improved and managed to cross Sindh in 11 hrs. I also followed the highway speed limit and was driving at a speed of 100 KM/Hr. I was lucky that I did not face much traffic on the road.
N-5:
1. Karachi to Hyderabad (163 KM): No diversion found, bridges have been repaired and crossed Hyderabad by-pass in about 2 hrs.
2. Hyderabad to New Saeedabad (66 KM): No diversion found, road condition is very good and reached new Saeedabad Toll Plaza in 45 min.
3. New Saeedabad to Moro (91 KM): Two diversions were found and got stuck at Kazi Ahmed for about 20 mins but managed to reach Moro Toll Plaza in 1hr 30 mins. Overall Road condition is good. Stopped at Taj Restaurant (after Moro toll plaza) for 30 mins. I always stop here for refreshment where restroom condition is very good and recommend everyone to try this restaurant.
4. Moro to Rohri (165 KM): Not sure about the diversions but I managed to reach at Rohri Toll in 2 hrs 30 mins. The road is excellent after Khairpur by-pass but overall road is good. Again, stopped at Taj Restaurant (Just after crossing the Rohri by-pass and before Rohri Toll Plaza) for 1 hr.
5. Rohri (165 KM) to Ubaro (111 KM): Faced multiple diversions and got stuck near Ghotki for 30 mins but managed to cross Sindh border in 2 hrs 30 mins.
Alternate route (Sakrand-Nawabshah-Kumb-Khaipur-Sukkur via Mehran Highway):
I have not experienced this route but my sources have informed me that we can save at least 30-45 mins to reach to Sukkur. The newly developed highway (two lane track) condition is very good and I will try it next time (InshaAllah).
