Vintage Eterna 1000 watch for sale.
Watch comes with bracelet as well as a leather strap.
The case, dial and crystal are all in excellent condition.
The bezel is fluted ( similar to the bezels seen in rolex datejust models)
The dial is quad tone with bluish green shade which can be seen in the photos.
The watch uses a new automatic ETA2824 swiss movement ( same movement used by most swiss companies eg omega, iwc, breitling, tag heuer etc)Price: 24000 PKR (negotiable)I am from Lahore.
bump bump
This is obviously not an original Eterna right? A watch that's almost 40 years old cannot look like that no matter how well it's been kept! The other giveaway of course is that the Eterna Matic 1000 did not come with a ETA-2824 movement.
I am having and old west end watch, and a raymond weil, both were gifted to me by my Grand father. Almost both are more than 50 years old and stiil brand new. Packed in boxes
can u post pics?????????? of both watches???
All mechanical watches require a service every 10 or so years (some workhorse movements can last a lot longer without service but it is still recommended) if you want them to keep running their best. After 50 years the oils inside the movement would have completely dried up. If you put them into use now you may discover that they either don't give the time at all, or the accuracy is severely compromised.
Secondly the rubber seals and gaskets inside the watch will wear and corrode over time, even if the watch has been hardly used. This will affect the water resistance of a watch.
Age also changes the color of painted parts, like the dial and hands. However the "patina" that it adds only enhances the character of the watch.
Point of all this is that timepieces are mechanical marvels, meant to be worn and maintained to keep them in their best possible shape. Just like cars. Even the most prized vintage cars will rust and fade away if kept locked away in a garage forever.
And yes like the previous poster said please post pics of those beauties if possible!
they are in my locker, will post them when i visited bank next.
Sir i use to wear a raymond weil, which is also from 1960 era, but first used by my dad and now i am using, once i broke her lens, got it repaired. but never serviced or any mechanical repairing.
As far as i know, i am not using mechanical watches from ages but the fact i know is the brands like tudor rolex omega west end raymond patek etc they never need to be serviced.
With all due respect you are very mistaken if you think that those brands never require a service. First of all service has nothing to do with the brands. It is a requirement of anything that is mechanical, I.e a combination of gears, springs and levers working together to do something. In the case of watches they wind the mainspring, which turns the hands. What makes you think that they will never require a service. That's like saying that luxury cars like Audis, Aston Martins and Ferraris never require a service! Quite the opposite!
I will post the pics of my west end tudor and raymond, all three are brand new. You will like them surely.
Here is my current collection which i use to wear
These are raymond weil tango, Movado museum. Seiko 5, sekio 5, west end watch sower prima, Raymond weil of early 70s, spencer
Bro, actually you are right, but i never got any of my watch serviced except changing of battery of quartz one, they all are working fine
Sir the simplest way to tell is by wearing the watch and seeing whether it keeps time within the range of accuracy that is consistent with the manufacturers specs and the age of the watch. My recommendation is please don't keep them locked away for so long that the movement becomes completely useless and they lose their value!
Sir, i never worn them because they are the last valuables of my grand father which i am having, when i visit to my locker i use to wind them and shake them. will wear them on my marriage surely. lol
Yes I recognized the Seikos and the Movado instantly. The Raymond Weil on the right looks interesting. What model is it?
Bro, these are the raymond only having automatic written them, 18k electroplated. and a movement number, no specific model
I did write that the watch had a new 2824 movement. These watches were assembled in the far east regions after eterna pulled out their manufacturing units there. The local units would have been left with the watch cases, dials, hands, bracelets etc ; Everything except the movements which eterna sourced from eta for these watches. Some one must have had the idea to strap the watches with newly available eta 2824 movements .. ironically these were much better modern movements which if regulated could be brought to within cosc specs haha.
Some of my other watches would disagree hahah
But Mostly i think its to do with my superior photography skills ( )
Very nice Seikos there. 6138?
That panda dial looks fantastic. If the crystal and dial on both are original then yes I take my words back! Where did you buy these btw?
