I'm a member of automobile industry. Let me tell you the facts.
When we talk about smaller cars, remember that, smaller cars are made for fun and enjoyment, those are not "family cars" like cultus or mehran which are positioned as "poor-family's car" in Pakistan.
Therefore the designers make cars with many accessories and convience elements. This raised the price, which resulted in higher landed cost in Pakistan if imported in CBU condition.
While local assembly is no more feasible due to high investment and longer payback period. Suzuki has made the small car segment his own field. Remember Revo, completely pakistani car but still for 260,000 because they had to setup plant, so they have to spare profit to get break even. While suzuki's plan has completed its payback period long ago.
My conclusion is that Pakistanis have to pay at least 800,000 for imported small car (remember indus's sirion, vitz) or do qina'at on Santro, Cultus, Alto or 3-year old used CBU's with parts problem.
