So my relative is selling a 1986 Toyota Corolla (diesel) for 1.5 Lac. Body is good, tires recently replaced, good ride quality (for such an old car) and all documents are original (as per his claims). Slight rust here and there but overall its in 7/10 condition. And I'm quite tempted to lay my hands on it.
My only concern is: MILEAGE!
THAT THING HAS COVERED 5.15 LAC KM's!!!
I did test rode it and the engine felt quite strong but again I've never driven a Corolla before; nor a diesel engine so I'm not sure how exactly it should feel... The guy says the engine has a lot of life left and is quite 'BULLETPROOF'.
Car's been well maintained, interior is pretty good (albeit bit cheap-ish for my taste) and service, oil change etc has been done on time. The seller is the first owner and he's selling (or dumping???) this car (or trash???) cause his son have bought a Honda City...
The car will be used only in weekends to take my family around... I'm not going to run my daily errands on it so I don't care about fuel consumption at all. All I care about is 'ENGINE LONGEVITY'...
So, SHOULD I BUY IT OR PASS???
