Hello guys,
I have a honda city 2012 model and have been using caltex havoline 10-30w. Mileage is 18,000km and i have been advised to change to a synthetic oil as the engine has been driven very low mileage. so was thinking of shifting to Havoline 5-40w fully synthetic. Any suggestions?
shift to total quartz 9000 5w30 (fully synthetic) or shell helix hx7 5w30 semi synthetic
but people say that changing from a mineral oil to a synthetic one damages the engine. any advises on that front?
Go for Zic Ow 30 ideal for Honda engines

u had mentioned that it is only driven 18000 kms so it is already a new engine. However to be on the safe side, pour in shell helix hx7, it is semi synthetic and can safely be used in ur ride
No harm in changing the engine oil from mineral to synthetic. But why do you want to switch oil? 10w-30 havoline formula works really good for this engine. My city 2010 is around 108k driven on this oil and still going strong. No issues so far.
I'll probably go with the shell helix hx 7 option. Thanks. Btw, how much mileage does the hx 7 give? Have been changing havoline 10-30 at 4000kms.
I wanted to change to a synthetic one for better responsiveness and better fuel economy.
5000-6000 kms
That is just a myth....simply flush out the old oil...and put in synthetic... there is no problem in that.....Technically speaking Synthetics were designed to be longer lasting as they resist more to their molecular structure disintegeration compared to minerals over time...Grades are for performance and viscosities are for engine clearences, though they effect performance too...Changing viscosities could be sometimes problematic in older cars....

I think shell is available in 5w40 only. Try searching the pumps in ur area. The 5w30 shell has is hx7 semi synth. Fully synth is ultra and is 5w40. Try, maybe u will find 5w30 in fully synth. If not, then use total 5w30
Thinking of staying with havoline and will go with havoline 5-40
Bro use total quartz 9000. It will give u better fuel economy. It is the same oil that honda dealerships use
Caltex products are not bad but my personal opinion is that they are highly over rated...
