Dear PWers and fellow Swift owners,
Yesterday i.e. on Sunday, I had to visit Hyderabad after a long time i.e. almost 15 years. It was a family emergency so I decided to reach there on my car.
My ride is a 2012 Swift DLX with 29400 on the ODO. The car is completely stock, on petrol with original Tauranzas. Till date maintained properly with regular 5000 kms service from Suzuki Carachi motors. the 30k service was due which i planned to do on the Saturday but couldn't do due to some reasons. For oil, I use Shell Helix Ultra always bought from Shell station at Khayaban-e-Bahria.
So, I set off at 8am from my home in DHA Phase 6. The tank was a little lesser than half so i got it filled from Caltex on Kh-e-Shujaat (Near DHA Office). I asked the guy to fill Rs. 300 worth of HOBC and rest with Premium (I always use HOBC+Premium mix). Got the tires inflated to proper pressure i.e. 33 psi in fronts and 30 psi in the rear wheels. Also got the pressure checked on the spare wheel because it has never been used till date.
Started off my journey with 5 adults on board. The weather in Karachi was very pleasant. The a/c was continuously ON on 1 and 2 depending on the cooling in cabin. On highway, I maintained speeds between 80-110 km/h with a few short sprints up to 140 km/hr (admit it you cant resist it with this car). with more inclination towards the higher side :). The car never felt sluggish and overtaking was a breeze and I never had to downshift it below 3rd.
Once we crossed DHA City, the weather started becoming increasingly hotter. I forgot to keep the sun shades in the car so it was literally scorching when we reached Hyderabad. found no spot in the shade so had to park it in the sun.
On the way back, had to keep the a/c on 3 due to 5 people and the hot weather. The a/c didn't let down and the cabin was very chilly. Had to reduce it to 1 once we reach back near DHA City since it was cloudy.
The road is somewhat bumpy due to pathetic patches. Especially on the way back, for almost 60 kms, its worst.
Point-wise:
Immense road grip. Totally stable even at 140+ km/hr with no signs of it losing grip.
The engine itself is totally quiet even at 3500 rpm. Barely audible.
Tauranzas are hell noisy on the patches. But the noise was compensated by the grip.
Braking is excellent and very responsive. Even with 5 people on board, you can stay confident even at 120 kmph.
And the best bit, the fuel efficiency. To my biggest surprise, from DHA to Hyderabad then back to DHA again, a total trip of approx 360 kms, the car consumed a mere half tank. Yes you read it right, a mere 20 litres on a 43 litres tank which gives an average of approx 17 km/litre. And I am not kidding. Continous a/c, all the idle, traffic, slow driving, downshifts and overtakes accounted for. The car with such a bad repute about the fuel consumption, it literally amazed me.
