About the vxr vs vxl debate, everybody has his own view so let me express mine
If in the current market scenario, someone wants a new car with the least risk of any frauds / market devaluation etc, while not totally ignoring the value for money and settling for something as outdated as a mehran or cultus, then wagor R seems to be the only option available. Since FAW V2 although being better value for money does has greater risks involved.
So the buyer of wagor r is the segment looking for the "cheapest" option available with "highest value for money" and "least risks". These factors taken together would result in this car as the result, although taken separately would lead to different results e.g. cheapest would be mehran but its a punishment to drive, highest value for money are imports but they have the highest risks attached and so does a V2, and least risky would also be a mehran but the hunt is for a good car not the worst.
Now coming back to the original question, when this segment has all the basic necessities satisfied in the VXR i.e. AC, power steering, usual goodies etc, which were missing in the VX, then what is the need for spending 40K more on things like front power windows (aren't the rear one's being powered more practical, the front one's are always in reach even if manual), colored sheshay, rpm meter (sporty gadgets in a car of THIS segment ? really ? ), and some chrome here and there.
There is a saying, when buying a cheap car, buy the cheapest version. Oh and it costs a MILLION right, well that is because of the devaluation of our currency. An underpowered, badly made sedan in this land with less goodies costs more then 1.5 million, if million is the amount you need for the starting segment, this doesn't mean spending extra doesn't matter. If someone has more, he would have moved to the next one and not settled on this.
Looks part is the most interesting, let truth be told, this ain't a head turner. Its something one settles for when an affordable vehicle is being searched. It serves this purpose it was made for in an excellent manner i.e. commuting comfortably while not spending a lot, trying to make it look daishi is a lost cause. Looks is not just an area this ride excels in.
So my personal preference, VXR makes the best case for an entry level car. Stick to the essentials, the extra shashkas are not worth it till one can move to a higher segment.
