Brother its not about standards unfortunately here in Pakistan rather clicking of the thing due to whatso ever reason but should be purely according to the target market. Everyone knows the older model corolla's brake issues yet it sold like a hot cake. Suzuki offers pathetic quality and so other companies in comparison to the amount they are charging yet all these work in here being oldest in the country and they got the advantage plus definitely these offer something which is the requirement like suzuki low cost maintenance n corolla durability. Now coming to the quality point, yes KIA Daewoo had quality n architecture issues thats why mechanics were unable to fix and those who could fix it, durability wasnt there which ultimately suffered badly these vehicles. I had a nice Daewoo Racer but after sometime I had to replace its generator with another company much successful than Daewoo, I had to put Indus Corollaz brake booster as its own got repired multiple times but no life after repairing. Same was the case with generator, you repair it and after a few days it would leave you at night in the middle of no where due to burnt generator. Power steering was a mess, changed twice n both got leaked after sometime n my car porch floor used to be layered with the fluid.
My brother in law has got a sportage, fitted with so many Toyota parts.... brother all thsse speak more than required. If leading companies in here are leading, obviously these are the best in available options at the least or we are artificially made to accept these due to man created monopoly I must say but cant help it.
I had an 88 Corolla used to get every part with a reasonable durability, I had an XLi, used to get the minutest and somewhat unnecessary part easily, had Euro 2 Mehran, nedless to say anything, I am having a Wagonr, Alhamdolillah easily get a minute rubber sealing of radiator support in 170 Rs direct from Indonesia.......
