Default (o\_!_/o) - Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)

Lets all contribute pics and memories to this timeless classic that has faithfully served generations. It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. The Type 32 prototype NSU of 1934 was an air-cooled rear engined four cylinder horizontally opposed powered car that used torsion bar suspension and featured beetle-like styling.' --- source - Google.co.uk lets keep the posts rolling - add pics of bugs you've owned or own! I'll add my dad's bug family pics as well ... I guess he fell in love with this oddly shaped car after he drove it down to Pakistan from Germany!!!! .. stories of that wonderous journey keep us entertained whenever our family gets together

Oh yes...I love the Beetle...truly a miracle of modern engineering and perhaps the ultimate all-time symbol of modernism.

My first car too and I've had them ever since, ranging from a '55 Deluxe Oval Window all the way up to a '71 1302S "Super Beetle".
Please do post your pics & stories!

My late father had a 1962 Beetle which he bought in 1990 and kept it till 2002. We absolutely loved that car; it was something that we grew up in. It was sort of pistachio green color at first and then we had it repainted in 1997 to red and it looked marvelous. It had all stock parts and tyres, plus it was real strong as far as the car’s body is concerned. At first with all the curves and lines, you might suspect instant dents. Once a teen in an old Honda hit the rear side fender but all that happened was a scratch to the Beetle and the bumper of the Honda loosened up a bit. The 1300cc engine was incredible when I would drive it, plus the lack of a radiator was truly an amazing innovation in modern mechanics.

The new Beetle looks a bit cute right now, but the engine in the front makes it a turn-off, disregarding the traditional “engine in the back” Beetles of the old. That was what made it stand out, among other things.

My father sold the Beetle in 2002 when he was getting a good price for it. It was a pretty sad moment; 12 years just don’t wash away easy. A year later the last of the old generation Beetles were assembled in Mexico and production ceased afterwards.

you're mosre than most welcome any time dear. i need the stickers too. do let me know when you can drop by because no ones except for the driver and an uncle of mine's allowed to drive it. when the driver's here, the keys remain in his pocket till he goes on leave. so much so for his dehshat!
