Increase in Token Tax Fee (Islamabad)

One of my friend has informed me today that the Token Tax fee of 1000cc vehicles has been increased from Rs. 348/- to Rs. 1100/-

I have Khyber 97 transfered to Islamabad from lahore. What should be its token tax and where can I pay it? I mean any post office in Islamabad or just some specific one/.

I dont know what our government is doing and where is all the money going. I pay £98 for my 1.5 car for whole year road tax and that is the only tax there are no toll plazas or anything here (infact to my knowledge there are only two toll points in whole UK) which will rob me when ever I use the so called motorways highways etc and the roads are way too better than Pak and well maintained.
One thing is for sure that Zardari assets will increase to USD 60 Billion in this year and he will cross Bill Gates. Atleast we will have a spot in Forbes then.

Nothing to worry about. WHT is an advance tax which is adjustable against your final tax liability. In simple words if the car is registered in your name and you are a tax payer then when submitting your tax return in September, each year, you can deduct the WHT amount paid at the time of paying token tax.

Yes its easy. if you're employed with a company/bank tell the salary section before payment of June salary. If you're self employed, make the deduction yourself and show it on the Income Tax form and deduct the differential from your total tax liability.

Today i have paid token tax for my car (Honda City 1300 cc, Islamabad registered)


Last year it was 1848 (348+1500) and today i have paid 4848 (348+3000+1500) which includes Rs. 1500 against the last year's arrears (as Govt. increased the tax in last week of July 2008). Hopefully from next year it will be 3348 (3000+348).

Actually i paid it on 10-7-2008 (lat year) and the government issues a circular on 24-7-2008 that the token tax rates have been increased and the new rates will be effective from this year. All those who paid after the issuance of the circular paid according to the new rates but majority has already paid the token tax. Now this year they are also recovering the arrears from all those who paid the tax before 24-7-2008 i.e. before the issuance of that circular.

it is not understandable that Y govt is asking to submit WHT for the last year.
It is the fault of govt that notification was issued on 24-7-2008,

Today i had paid token for Baleno-2003, Isb registered - 1298cc (as per registration book) they asked me to pay 3100 as per the following breakup:


Tax : 1750


Witholding Tax (newly added): 1000


Road Tax : 350


Total :: 3100


But its strange that they wrote amount of Rs. 2750 on the Token (attached in the book) when i asked they became rubbish and misbehaved as well so i suggest its better to leave them on their own.

i dont think that isb registered cars' token can be paid in rwp or vice-versa. Anyhow my car's token get paid from I-10 post office.
