This is the Timeline of Proton Berhad.

Timeline
1981 Joint venture proposed with Mitsubishi to build a Malaysian car.
1982 National Car Project given cabinet approval.
Heavy Industries Corporation of Malaysia (HICOM) signs agreement with Mitsubishi.
1983 Proton established on 7th May.

proton is on the verge of launching in pakistan, many of us are hoping very high of proton.. lets see what they deliver.

I have heard that the gen 2 is also comming equipped with a 1.6 liter engine

lets hope we get the beter of proton.. not the crap/

This is very close to my office, anyways, that location has two show rooms on the Duty free shop side of the road:

1. Adam Motors (Revo, etc.)
2. Cherry Pakistan (QQ)

On the other side I think Honda or Toyota or both dealers are located.

I will have a closer look on Monday when I will hopefully be in Karachi.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS...

I wish they later on introduce the PROTON SATRIA NEO...its one heck of a coupe...

1.3l and a hatch coupe... economical and fun to drive... imagine how good it would be for pakistani roads...

anyways the lancers optras corollas and citys and lianas are in for trouble...

because all the protons being launched are competitive cars..and theyre cheap( in other countries)...

Anywhere upwards of Rs.725,000 for the 1300cc Gen2 and Proton will be History.

For then it will be competing directly with the Liana, which is a very well equipped good value for money car, nobody is going to buy a Malaysian import if they can get a Liana for the same price.
