Pakistan railway has asked companies to present a study on the feasibility of the project. If this materialize then it is a very good project. Rawlapindi to Lahore in less than two hours. Great. Thumbs for new railway minister.

its not only about the engine it all depends on the track too.
sometimes our trains get out of track. these tracks are not capable to handle speed of 100 plus i think so running faster trains is not feasible, unless the tracks should be properly maintained

@beeberg, if its a train like the one shown in the picture, it needs its own dedicated track... it cant run on our current tracks ...also these bullet trains are known for reaching very high velocities, hence they need empty tracks that are also fenced so that no one can sit on them...like ppl usually do .

The current rail tracks are laid down since more than 100years and the proof is the years written over the main entrance gates of Lahore, Pindi and Karachi railway stations.

The said Bullet Train, speed 250-300 Kms per hre....But the real bullet train speeds upto 300-500 Miles per hre not Kms...And there is a difference b/w Bullet Train and Speed Rails. Keep checking Discovery Channel that repeated the program on this topic twice this week. Sheikh Sb as a Railway Minister should have a knowledge himself instead saying the words what his MUSHEERS told him.

Launching the Fast/bullet train is the easiest part, doing feasibility study and implementing all the findings; educating people (especially from where the tracks will pass through) and then maintenance are the hardest parts.
I hop ethis time round the train fits on the tracks.
Hopefully this service wil be secure from goats/other livestock on the track and terrorists.

Well as long the will have under pass and over pass with frequent intervals and tell people to only cross the tracks from these location then it will be prune from goats and stuff.
Also distance between these under pass and over pass will also depend on these factors because if it will cause people to travel extra 2 miles to get to them , they wont be happy.

Shiekh sb, is he minister for the country or Rawalpindi only, rightly pointed out by other members v need 2 develop the culture for use of these things & isnt improvement required in the whole of railway b4 v even start 2 think on feasibility of such projects. oh i 4got how much vil b the commision (i think a gr8 amount even 4 the feasibility study) , good thing though if it materialises in our lifetime &is not just a election compaign and a political stunt

maximizing speed limit on motorway and putting barrier on both of sides wont help in prevention of accidents. these will occur more.
but i wish its limit is increased and heavy bikes are allowed there.

Its not possible to run a bullet train on the existing track.
Thats why they plan to start b/w lhr and isb. to run a bullet train they need magnatic track and the train will not run on the track but in air between the magnatic field created between two tracks and it can only run without friction . if friction is caused it will melt down the track due the speed . Think about 100wheels running on 300 KMPS will generate so much heat that any metal will melt down. these trains are run in air between two tracks through the magnetic polarization upper negative and lower positive locked together . the polarization creates the thrust to run the thingee.
