I do not advise to change the rim size as already known fact :
2007 - XLi has 14 " tyres. 2007 - GLi has 15" tyres. for 2009 16 " is a really very large size, some one vehicle engineer from Car Assembly of Toyota can guide. We are changing tyres according to our wish & fashion. We must Value technicality of the vehicle , what the vehicle demands. I can quote ' A three piece suit can not be worn along with Nike Joggers' Tyre size is designed in accordance with vehicle alignment line up like main axels, tie rods, steering box, Tyre chamber for max turning and many other technical specifications.

Better keep the stock tires and rims as the benefit for the ride is too little with different tires.
Care must be taken to stick to stock sizes in ABS equipped cars as the ABS computer is calibrated with the specific size.

Well i got new tires and rims for my corolla too... i cant suggest you as i am not that aware of tyre specs and all.
But i can tell you one thing that is really important. I own a Gli 2009 and last week my front shock got leaked; as my car was in warranty i was expecting free replacement but guess what? once you change tires of your car the warranty is gone ! yes i payed the price of new shock. So please confirm this from nearest toyota showroom first and then make a decision because i believe warranty is important...my bill was Rs.6k+. Good Luck

3:39 PM it not me who's calling them steel rims....its toyota...i got a quotation from them...and that is what they call it....it sounded weird to me as well...but then again...what can i say...regarding every one else...guys....im really obliged for all your help but then again.....now im confused.....i did a little research of my own regarding the alloys u guys recommended....i came down to two of them 205/55/16 Dunlop tires (SP60) and 195/60/16 SP Sport 5000.... now my questions are simple....can i OR can i not have the 16 inch alloys with any of the following tires IF i have CNG in my car as well....? cuz some of u say its ok...others say it not. correct me if im worng but if the overall tires size remains the same as is with the "Plus Conept" it shouldnt make any major difference to the suspension and all....right? i do know that the warranty will be void if i change my tire size. |

bhaijaan, do not put 16inches rims if your car is new because if you put 16 inches rims then the warranty of your will be finish and also dont put cng on it. because on Monday i get the delivery of my new gli and i already ask them regarding the warranty conditions by toyota central motors,he told me donot put more than 15inche size rim and cng upto 20,000 km and after that you can put anything. Even the spark plugs which comes DENSO Spark Plugs with GLI donot change because most of the people put performance spark plugs and when we put performance plugs the compression made by piston and valve and produce more heat so thats why engine get overheated then usual and theres a chance of tappet jammed, which he told me he saw in these new engines. BTW you can contact Central motors
21-34532246 Mr. Shuan for confirmation.

@all
16" rims are fine![ @autophile put forth the same point Ive emphasized on repeatedly, get ANY size, but stay within +/- 3% of the original DIAMETER! So if you get 16", then lower the tyre profile, like 205/55/16 vs 195/65/15, and its all A-OK!

@Farhan
You most certainly can have 205/55/16 or 195/60/16 AND CNG. But do know that fuel efficiency will likely decrease, but rest will be as normal because the wheel+tyre volume hasnt changed much.

Thank you for your help.....
Ok so my options are 205/55/16(which im assuming is a low profile tire ) and 195/65/16( which is a normal tire...please excuse my terminology...there are only two tire sizes im aware of...normal and low profile )Now that you guys have helped me in getting that question of mine answered...the next important thing that worries me is the brand of tire....and where to get it from?since im in karachi are there any good shops where i can get good tires for the right price?? the guy at the Dunlop store in Gizri told be he has two tires...one was Dunlop Max...and the other was SP Sport 9000. Which tires brand and price would u guys suggest....?? By the way ....In My recent trip to the Dunlop store....i asked him if i can have 16 ich alloys....he was against it....he said that GLI has a 1300cc engine....and its just too much on your car...the suspension will give away....BUT if your daily mileage is low then its ok....:p |
