Honda life is a K-car. K-car is a term used for small city cars in the Japanese language. Honda life entered the auto world in 1971; however in Pakistan, the vehicle was visible in early 2000's. Honda Life has been divided into five generations. The fifth generation was introduced since 2008, and the production finally stopped in 2014.
There is a tremendous amount of competition found in such small body cars in Pakistan. Therefore, it was tough for Honda life to win the race.
Honda life is available with a 660cc I3 engine with 4-speed automatic transmission. There are turbo versions of the same 660cc which can be counted on fingertips. It is standard practice by the automakers while producing K-cars, of providing different variants regarding features rather than an engine. There is always a variety of grades such as C and G in Honda Life.
Not a very expensive vehicle used Honda life 2013 and Honda Life 2014 are going to cost you under PKR 12 Lacs. There are older models of the small city car available in the market which can be purchased under PKR 7 Lacs. However, it's hard to find older models in good condition. A decent condition Honda Life 2012 will cost under PKR 10 Lacs.
Available variants are:
Daihatsu Mira, Suzuki Alto, Suzuki Kei, Honda Zest and Nissan Otti are direct competitors of the vehicle. However, Mira and Alto have won the race and are ruling the market of K-cars. Regarding sales, no comparison can be made between Honda Life, Suzuki Alto, and Daihatsu Mira. All the vehicles are of almost the same size, height and features. The significant difference found in them is the brand and shape only. Honda life has Honda Smart Parking Assist System, which does voice guidance to the driver while moving the car forward or backward. The weight of the vehicle is pretty impressive, and the latest model was further reduced by 40kgs. The best thing about these lightweight 660cc K-cars is that they can complete the 140 km/h speed limit mark quickly.
There are fixed margins on fresh import K-cars in Pakistan. A dealer is going to keep a PKR 25000 margin on a 4.5-grade vehicle because charging high is going to send the customer to another dealer because of high competition in the market. The resale value of Honda Life is not worth praising. The lack of demand decreases the prices and profit margins.
The latest fifth generation Honda Life is comparatively seen doing better than older models. The vehicle has a standard 660cc engine but where it lacks is the design, giving competitors an easy way to the finish line.
