Suzuki Margalla was a sedan shape of Suzuki Cultus second generation which was initially imported from Japan to check the market potential. Suzuki Margalla got the title of first Sedan vehicle being offered by Pak Suzuki. The vehicle after receiving a good response was launched in the Pakistani market however the vehicle lived short. The production of the car stopped in the year 1998 with an age of just seven years. Suzuki Baleno replaced Suzuki Margalla. The vehicle mainly has two variants. However, an additional version was introduced later on.
Suzuki Margalla came with a 1.3L SOHC 8 valve inline four carbureted engine with a five-speed manual transmission. There was 1.0L variants present as well, but they were a just handful of them available in Pakistan. The 1.0L variants were imported models.
Used Suzuki Margalla price in Pakistan ranges between Rs. 3-4 Lacs. However, there are many vehicles found in good condition, and the owner demands a comparatively high amount.
Current variants available:
Suzuki Margalla GL
Suzuki Margalla GL Plus
Suzuki Margalla GLX
Direct competitors of Suzuki Margalla are Daewoo Racer, Toyota Corolla and Honda City. It is noted that Suzuki sedan vehicles have to compete with the well-known and well-established Toyota Corolla and Honda City. One cannot deny that Suzuki Margalla has given tough competition to its competitors. However, if you talk about Suzuki Liana or Suzuki Baleno, They couldn't stand the fierce competition. During 90's Toyota Corolla popularly known as Indus Corolla was one vehicle every other person desired. The drive, comfort and power of Indus Corolla were so exceptional that Margalla slowly and gradually started to fade away. Daewoo racer also made success steps for Margalla difficult. With a 1.5L engine, it was seen that the Daewoo racer had more power, a wider body and larger trunk. A big reason why Suzuki Margalla was more preferred over Daewoo Racer was that mechanics were easily available for Margalla and parts availability was never an issue. There is a general mindset that people prefer used Suzuki Margalla over Daewoo Racer.
There are not many Suzuki Margalla now available for sale in the market. Many of the Margallas have been dumped; some are in pathetic condition, and very few are found to be in good condition. A good condition Suzuki Margalla second hand is difficult to find and therefore the value decreases. It is a simple formula that with time the condition of the vehicles deteriorates, and there are better options available in the market, making the resale value decrease.
Although the sedan faced criticism regarding the lack of power but still it did pretty well. Even though I couldn't win the race against its fierce competitor Toyota Corolla but still it managed to make a good name in the market.
