200% Increased Traffic Violation Fines Implemented on All Highways

National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced the implementation of a 200% increase in traffic violations on all highways in Pakistan. In October 2023, the authority announced the hiked fines on all motorways and highways in Pakistan to reduce violations and road accidents. If you remember, we told you that the new fines will be implemented from October 1, 2023, and these were the revised rates of fines:

Now Implemented Across Highways

When asked about implementing these fines, an NHMP spokesperson told PakWheels.com  that these were implemented in two stages. “In the first stage, these were imposed only for cars and jeeps, particularly on motorways from October 1, 2023, and now in the second phase, from January 1, 2024, it completely implemented in areas of responsibility (AOR) of NHMP,” he explained.

This means the fines will be received at all major highways in the country, and one should drive carefully and safely to avoid these strict penalties. The news came as the Punjab government increased the toll tax on the Lahore Ring Road by 20% yesterday, and you can read about that in detail here.
